TMNT + clones - Dubious Play Techniques?

Post by tmorrow »

I don't know how rife the use of this technique is but if you playback Mike Myers http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/ccc_tmht2p_322_win61.zip you will see an old trick being used.

In the sewer level (purple slime) if you place your characters shadow on the horizontal line separating the slime from the dry land you cannot be hit by the enemy. Walking that horizontal line means a no risk 100-200 points, especially if you don't hit the flying boss at the end but just keep wiping out the enemies he throws out.

This technique is one that is borderline on being acceptable or not. The technique can't be done ad infinitum so that that is a good argument legitimising the technique even though you are getting points with no risk. Quite frankly, I believe the game is so hard with just one life, a player needs every break he can get, I don't believe the game has been completed yet on MARP.

Just thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention, some people may not be aware of this technique.

There is also another trick in this game known a the yellow boomerang trick where you wedge the enemy between you and a fire hydrant and keep hitting the boomerangs he throws for a point a pop. It can be done forever. I think everyone would agree that this technique should not be allowed.

Well, on TMNT the score of the second place, MGM from Brazil, finished the game with just one life. You can see his inp.

And I think don´t have a problem someone do 999 killing bummerangs if this player finish the game. one player, did more than 1200 on X-men, but he finished the game.
Long life to good games
