I just played another game on the japanese clone, and once again I could reach the rope. The only difference I can see on my recordings compared to yours are that I collect more points on my way to level 4. Picking up more unnecessary items.
What surprises me about your recording Phil was that you got through the blue door on level 4 without getting the blue key, because you can't get up that rope
Maybe this clone is so full of bugs it should be archived.

Frankie: did you fall off the key ledge after climbing the step pyramid this time? I think both qrs and phil did not fall but jumped off the key's ledge. It might be a hidden trigger (floating in the air just off the key ledge that won't be hit if you jump far off) but then again could as easily be a bug if you can jump off the key ledge and still get the rope down.

I just tried to jump from the key ledge to the platform, and even then I got the long rope. However, I made a mistake before I entered the pyramid, and fell halfway down, instead of taking the elevator down. Maybe I touched *the* hidden trigger there.
