Okay here's what happens, I'm studying the top 3 , looking for a score to beat. Find a reasonable chance at one i like. Try it ,hmm a little tough.
Try again not much better . Before i know it i've spent hours on a recording session. Lately i end this time by cursing, slamming things, yelling about how wrong this is and tearing up the keyboard, hitting it punching it ,ripping the keys off throwing it . Scream some more Tear up the desk. You get the picture right. I feel better Though, afterwards.
Is this normal :?:Have any stories to relate :?:
I remember my brother Jim used to destroy atari 2600 controllers by ripping the stick out of the socket. Back in the 80's I saw some one do this to a zaxxon joytick and those were metal. My friend Pat moved a Robotron game off the ground by the two sticks he was so mad. My brother Joe slammmed his fist down hard on a nintendo crushing the case playing megaman. Luckily it han an internal metal case as well. dented it
I recorded an .inp of superzaxxon for second place getting 82 points
almost beat Dave Knaup and it took me 100 attemps. Recently someone
came along and annihilated both our scores with a whopping half a million :!: So i deleted mine. Only had 11 points.

Yep this can be a problem! The foot board of my bed is still splintered from when I threw down playing my apple //c's robotron. I think rage is all related to the person, some people can take the cheap computer shots and some people can't. I'm an old old fart now and I've gotten used to my limitations, so i usually don't get too upset anymore.

I see a guy one day who take his psx pad by the cable, circle it in the air and crash it on the ground... twice. Of course with roaring of rage :D

With games I enjoy I tend to go through patches of real frustration. For example, Invinco - invinco, invds & invho - I cannot get a as far on the original as I can on the other two. Repeating this kind of frustration leads me to hammer the keyboard. I've had a few keyboards in my time. :(

Additionally in the good ol' speccy days when Daley Thompson's Decathlon first appeared - there were *no* joysticks that could adequately cope with the hammering that they got, not just from the game but from being hurled across the room.

I'm currently on keyboard number 3. The last on I actually split down the middle when I picked it up and smashed over the back of the chair in a Pete Townshend style! Thats what playing too much Burnin' Rubber does to a person.

Hmmm...Pete Townshend style. Very nice. Just don't take on the Keith Moon style. Although, I think Alex is working on that one. Send me another pint of Guinness, Alex. I'm running out.

I've got a couple holes in my wall from when I got pissed off over some games when I was a kid.

and I lost count of how many pads I've destroyed (this Microsoft Shitwinder is next!)

you're not a real gamer if you don't have the rage :D

I knew I wasn't a real gamer... if a game did annoy me much then I won't play it as that is not my reason of playing. ;)
but I do get scared when I see someone get angry over a game or laugh sometimes. ^_^

There's a nice large crack running down the cassette deck of my old CPC 464. :)

These days, when I get annoyed at some game, it gets channeled through IRC. Hitting something (usually this desk) helps too, but hurts somewhat.

Some days are beter than others. Through it all I have developed a new appreciation for the amount of talent, skill, dexterity, patience and stamina required to achieve some of the awesome scores @ marp.
The fact that I am bi - polar may have somthing to do with rage from a psychological standpoint. However I think that anger is common to all for various reasons: Perceived injustce, inadequacey and so on...perhaps I am striving to equal or excel beyond my capabilites / potential at video games.

That's the goal of any gamer...why play if you aren't gonna improve your skill at certain games(or at least have that as a goal so are "striving" for it)?

I quickly lose interest and don't play games where I see I really don't have a knack for the game. I would rather spend time further developing my skills for certain games I have a knack for or have skill on from playing them in the golden age. I have found some new one sI never saw in arcades and likely will get around to playing those someday, but for now am sticking with classic games submitting scores for those.

Here is another story related to rage in the home game arena.
My brother Jimmy owned Mortal Combat 3 for super nintendo in 1995.
He was in his room having a great game and in walks my other sibling Joe.
Jim proceeds to tell Joe how he conquered the cartridge on one man.
Joe then tries his skill at it and Jim decides to leave his room for 20 minutes... W-e-l-l when Jimmy does return he finds Joe visibly annoyed
and leaving without a word. Soon to discover his snes pad has been totally thrashed ,trashed , splinttered, destroyed, cable buttons and all :!:

Haha, I have a friend who used to do the same with his SNES pads but he would let the pads fly across the room against the wall. He destroyed other stuff too in his rage. Not sure if I should mention that here...

I haven't quite broken anything yet, but I do sometimes slam my fists on the desk when I get frustrated.

very fine.
definition of "real gamer" is far from the definition of "excellent player".

10 most important factors of excelletn players are.....
Calm,calculation,Knowledge,study,patient,implements,intellegence,
a few time, rapid fire skill and a small amount of practice.

Real GAMER(   ) needs
RAGE,Ignorance, play, play and play, upload, upload and upload,
destroy one's implements.......

I want to be an excellent player. not a REAL...
