couldn't play back any of these with cli mame with or with out sound, though I didn't try mame32.

I guess there really are more than one tomstones, there are two listings for tombstones in the wow list.

Tried to record with this version, and it didn't playback correctly for
Wizard of Wor.
Could be a problem with newer versions of mame32?

It had something to do with the samples. I deleted all my sample files and now mame3260 plays back Wizard of Wor fine.

excellent find! samples indeed do have something to do with this game, i'm affraid the actual samples themselves may have something to do with playback, i just tried all the above with out samples and they each playback differently but do not playback to the intended scores, please someone (be the third strike) so we can verify the above scores are not playbackable.
and it seems to work the same way as to just disable samples in mame rather than deleting the samples directory...

the 49k score is missing a third strike, others are zereoed.
