MARP rule 2-h states:
mschamp is basically a Ms. Pac-Man clone, but has two major differences.Recording submissions must be recorded with that particular ROMset's defaults, not at easier or different settings.
- There is a one minute time limit. If you do not complete a maze within one minute, you lose a life.
- Ms. Pac-Man moves super fast, much faster than the speedup cheat in the original game. This makes it more challenging, as you have to have lightning fast reflexes to avoid ghosts and make split second decisions.
The ROM mschamp actually contains two games, Ms. Pac-Man Championship Edition AND Super Zola Pac Gal. The Championship Edition features the Ms. Pac-Man Plus board sets, and Super Zola Pac Gal features the original Ms. Pac-Man board sets board sets.
Unlike most ROMs that contain two games, however, in mschamp you must change a dipswitch setting, "Game", from "Champion Edition" to "Super Zola Pac Gal". Because of this, Super Zola Pac Gal is not allowed on MARP, due to rule 2-h as Pat pointed out a couple of months back.
Therefore, in order to be able to play this game and submit recordings to MARP as I remember it from the arcade, I am initiating a vote to get this rule to NOT apply to this ROMset's specific dipswitch setting, "Game", and allow the two different games to be split. Because it goes against a current rule, it requires 2/3 of the vote. So if less than 2/3 say yes, I'll deal with it then.
