esprade or espradeo

My system wants to play it as espradeo. It only plays back to roughly 1.6mil, and appears to desync. It's worse without sound or on Kaillera.

Played back for me just fine using the Windows binary of 0.61 with sound on.

There have been a lot of problems with this game in the past. If you're lucky enough to get a recording that actually works, chances are it's only going to be playable on the same platform it was recorded with, and the same sound options. So it might be advisable to be specific when uploading on this.

That made it worse, Joey. Desyncs now around 160K.

Same issue. Desyncs early and often. However, I cannot play it back under the listed specs, so if someone else (Chad?) can give it a shot.

And BBH, if you can confirm that other one, I still can't get it to playback.

for the record, I tried recording with mame32-61 first, but that game wouldn't play back at all (no biggie, I didn't even finish it). Not with mame32, the Windows binary, the DOS binary, sound on or off, nothing.

The recording I made with the DOS version plays back perfectly with sound on for me. Maybe it needs specific sample options... I'll check what they were when I get home. I really hope this recording will work for someone else, it was a really good game for me.

And no, I haven't looked at Joey's new recording yet, but the first one was fine

no luck in xp either, i'll bet it's a frequecny or opl thing, or cfg or hiscore thing.

I'm pretty sure it's a sound sample thing, because I changed the OPL settings around, and it still played back correctly. I deleted my hiscore.dat file a while back too.

I had samplerate = 22050 and samplebits = 8 in my mame.cfg. Changing them to 44100 and 16 caused it to break, but not until the last level. Try these settings, maybe that will work?

Maybe try sending Chad your .cfg file for that game?

well, might as well take advantage of the file attachments feature that Seymour added and upload my mame.cfg. I sent it to Jason Dyer the other night on #marp, but he couldn't get it to work even with that either :( What am I going to do about this damn game?

(had to upload the file as a .zip, it wouldn't let me upload a .cfg)

As much as it pained me to do so, I've deleted my old recording and submitted an inferior one using no sound. It was recorded in DOS MAME, but I was able to play it back in MAME32 with no sound also. So I'm hoping this one will be more compatible. Please let me know if this one will work.

It really pisses me off too that recording with sound causes so many problems, because I LOVE the audio in ESPRade (Barry can attest to my luv for the boss tune). I just can't get "into the zone" when sound is off, in some ways I think it makes things harder because you can't "hear" every bullet that's fired (yeah yeah, I know there's a lot of bullets to keep track of, but still). I still don't understand why the old recording worked fine for me every single time I tried, but wouldn't for anyone else even with my .cfg file. Sigh......

don't give up hope, i haven't had the time to test this recording with the cfg yet as it requires me to boot in 98, it still may work! but it just goes to show you what l33tness BBH has even though the recording hasn't been proven not to playback, he's concerned there might be issues with the game that could take lots of times of confirmers trying to make it work. teamSoSelfless.

ok, here's the scoop. i was able to playback the 17M score with no sound with dos mame and any frameskipping but still couldn't get the 19M to playback with anything. i also couldn't exactally repeat the mame.cfg because the soundcard 7 setting didn't work for me, and i can't even get mame to prompt me for what "7" really means. I'm assuming this is "Microsoft Sound System" soundcard, how did you get that to work?
