Tonight, I'm going to setup ROMcli on my server machine. ROMcli will allow users to DCC Receive ROMs. Simply type \get romname in a private message and it'll send the ROM to you. Nothing terribly advanced, just something that'll make getting ROMs easier. It has a complete 0.60 set, so anything you need should be there.

This way, if you want a few ROMs quickly, it'll send them to you. This is especially useful if you have a "FUCKING MODEM", can't download the complete ROMset, and want a ROM without having to navigate slow-as-hell sites.

If it wasn't such a pain in the ass to connect to multiple servers, I'd bring my ROM bot to irc.marpirc.net too.
(OW-Roms) ** 33746 packs ** Slots: 20/20 open ** Record: 1492.9KB/s
(OW-Roms) ** Bandwidth ** Out: 0.0KB/s
(OW-Roms) ** To get a list of packs type: "/msg OW-Roms index" **
(OW-Roms) Total Offered: 9769.4 MB ** Total Transferred: 81.97 GB
I only have a MAME 0.58 set there though, it sucks. Someday I'll update it for 0.60 (or whatever the current version is at the time).

very nice, i'm sure many will appreciate this, but becarefull of the legalities of distributing roms and such. and you might want to explain what dcc receiving is and how to do it. (i don't know, proly because i don't use irc.)

Just had a quick go and it works great! Thanks very much for setting this up.
It's always been a bit of a pain getting roms ever since mame.dk shut up shop. This is a much easier way.

well i do when it's necesary for meetings but i was only thrilled with multi user chat systems (gtalk was the coolest but nobody uses text screens anymoe :( ) for a few years... they don't trip my trigger, at least message boards you can walk a way from and then come back and see exactally what's been said with out have to keep up and respond if you want to so quickly.

Plus he doesn't want to appear in a comic strip. ^_^
