I understand the current scoring policy in SMB2 is 1 point for every stage completed. What's the scoring policy using warps in SMB2?

I really don't know what it is - but I'd imagine you'd... I don't know... let me do a little metacognition here.

There's... 7 worlds, right? The 7th world has 2 stages in it if I'm not mistaken, so 20 stages is the maximum I think. I'm not positive, please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you warp from say 1-3, I'd say you get credit for completing 1-3, so 3 points so far, you warp to 4-1, so if you go the rest of the way, you'd get 11 more points for a final score of 14. I don't think you should get the maximum of 20 if you warp.

Skipping stages should be a reduction of maximum score, like all the other super mario games.

That's my opinion, please take it like a grain of salt. :)

I just had a thought...

Maybe we should score it like 1,000 points for completing a stage, adding 1 point for every second you have on the playchoice 10 clock?

Maybe that would avoid a possible zillion-way-tie...

sounds much better than zillion way ties... i'd vote for it.

I like it

of course, you have to win the game in order to get the time bonus...

Hey - do something about Chip + Dale: Rescue Rangers also. I maxed out all the counters + completed the game beating each and every level, I rather have this scoring method for that game also.

Hey Roncli - the scoring for SMB2 has already changed - the ayes are 8, the nays are 1 - scoring is now 1000 / stage complete + 1 pt / time unit left - provided you win of course. :)

Kewl

Didn't realize it had changed already. :) I'm gonna go back to it tonight and try and complete it without locking up on the Fry Guy board. :)

[edit] Don't you mean 1000 * stages completed? :) [/edit]

Maybe we could apply this time bonus system to an other game : pc_rygar

Score would be time units remaining when finishing the game (if you don't finish the game : no score) ; I've just watched BBH's input which completes the game when timer = 3003, but he lost a lot of time to get the crossbow he had forgot to pick up, and I'm sure "time score" can be improved by one of you
