i'm not sure if you've overheard the recent "nohws" issues about mame looking ugly, i.e. the pixels look faded bleeded blury. is this why you think mamew looks bad? you can turn hardware pixel streching off with the -nohws option, you don't get acurate scale rations but the pixels look way beter to care about how oval pacman shoudl look.

From what I understand, the Neo Geo graphics decryption doesn't work under DOS. Why, who knows? It's fine under Windows and Linux at least, other than taking a few minutes to load and decrypt the ROMs (if you have 128MB RAM like me

).

It simply doesn't work without 256MB+ RAM . Probably because it can't reach to decrypt all the data due to DOS limitations...
is this the problem??

Wrong. DOS MAME just doesn't decrypt the roms correctly no matter how many megs of RAM you have. With 128 or 256 megs of RAM, try loading Nightmare in the Dark on DOS MAME, which is much smaller than Strikers, Prehistoric Isle 2, Metal Slug 3, etc... the graphics will always turn up blocky. They only work with the Windows and MAME32 binaries for now.
I feel your pain INNUENDO, I prefer DOS versions too...

Encrypted Neo Geo games are fine with XMAME too. The DOS version doesn't even attempt to decrypt the GFX for some reason.

WRONG!To me nitd,sengoku3,zupapa,kof99,kof2000,mslug3,ecc... works perfectly in DOS MAME,and I have 256MB ram.I also have WinME and not Win98,but I don't think is that...

in the end.... Kale is right. Now I have a K7 - ATLHON XP 1700. If I had 256, could run these 3 games (s1945p, mslug3 and kof2000), without a problem. But I have a 128 mb yet... But I´ve tested in a friend´s computer and work 100% perfect. the solution is the 256 mb to run
By the way...

My computer HAS 256 MB RAM (DDR). And since my computer is almost as fast as yours (Athlon 1.33 GB), you could try here. That is, I need the roms to try out. Hmmm... why I'm writing this in english, PORRA???
