This could be a game that doesn't playback well or only plays back
with special settings (no sound or frameskip=0). However, my guess
is It's most likely the nvram issue. For ease, just delete the nvram
directory from mame each time you install it, and playbacks will work
more.

I'm guessing this was the first time you played/recorded klax, thus
you didn't have a nvram/klax.nv file. next you make your recording
with no nvram file. Then you finish the recording, the nvram/klax.nv
file gets created by mame when the recording is done. Next you try
and playback the inp (which was recorded with no nv file) while the
klax.nv is in the nvram dir and thus you are not playing back the
recording in the state it was played back.

Of courser if this isn't the first time you played the game, this
sceneario was possible. Nvram/klax.nv #1 existed before you
recored. You start recording and finish you 98k recording, thus
changing Nvram/klax.nv #2 and when you go back to play your inp it
reads #2 when it really wanted #1 to playback correctly.

At any rate i was able to playback the Gary's recording to 963120 but
with a defalt created nvram (not one deleted) which means you have to
upload the nvram file you had before you started recording to play it
back (if you don't want to just delete the nvram directory that is...)

aint playing back fun? not.
