Confirmation crisis

Post by Fritz »

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I only get to surf using this poxy 386 at college which takes forever, and before I can
read anything some spotty student is huffing and puffing down my neck
cos he wants to get his ****ology essay typed up.
My question - just who is it who confirms these scores? Some of the
claims seem totally preposterous and, on downloading, not surprisingly
turn out to be utter cattle-crap.
What's going on?

confirmations - you saying what now ?

Post by Krool »

only a few (as far as i know) people can confirm scores...and i am one of them :) honoured as i am at this, i watch the replay through 100% looking for all sorts of little things...like CHEATING (!!!dont get me started now!)
yeah, on a few of my favourite games, i can tell what settings were used even...if you know a game that good...well...

BUT as far as i know, all the other confirmers do the same, i watch the game through looking for non obvious stuff (not like CONTINUING) but sketchy gameplay (ie -cheat, or x more lives) and make sure its a legit score, then i confirm it...IF its alright...dodgy replays are told to higher authorities (zwaxy)

YOU CANNOT CONFIRM YOUR OWN SCORES

so if it dont replay back andi have tried to make it to, then i tell someone about it (zwaxy ^_^) but as we all know now, some games dont like to play back anyway...fixed soon hopefully

so there

Like Krool said, there are a few confirmers- mostly MARP regulars who have contributed recordings for a long time on this site, so you can be rest assured that the confirmed scores are indeed genuine.

The reason some recordings may appear 'cattle crap' to you is that you are attempting to play back an older recording on a newer version of MAME. For many games this results in random play culminating in a much lower score than is proclaimed. All recordings should be played back on the version of MAME that the person recorded the score on.
