Older versions of MAME normally do not have the opponent horses. The opponents being missing had been noted when the game was dumped back in 2005, when it was believed to be a bug in the emulator. With v0.127u1, it was found to be a dipswitch issue; the "No Continues" dipswitch in older versions is actually a debug dip that disables the opponents, and the game doesn't have continues at all.

All scores for this game currently on MARP are v0.106 or earlier. Having opponents changes the game completely, so I guess existing scores should be checked for opponents (doubtful), with a special rule to turn that dipswitch off in older versions.

Sorry to be 3 months late on this. But a Very interesting point made. There are some issues with scores at marp then. The top score made in wolf106 does not have opponents and may considered invalid, a later score made in wolf106 DOES have opponents. I do not see any obvious dipswitch setting changes in these recordings, although the tab menu is not the best way to diagnose dipswitch settings made in recordings. Phil, should we revoke recordings made with out opponents? Barry, can you determine which dip switch between these two recordings makes the opponent difference? They both playback to their listed score.

I'm unable to check now... but I agree that the "non opponents" INPs may be zeroed.
1st place is mine, and I remember playing less than 30 minutes in this game. Feel free to update, thanks.

Yes, I agree that the "non opponents" INPs are to be zeroed.
Let's wait for Barry's answer to build the special rule ; "version = 0.128 or later" will probably be fine, but apparently you can get opponents with 0.106, let's find how to -eventually- enlarge the rule.
