TimeTrial 2013 - R3 - Power Drift (Course A) [pdrift]
Well, a race game is a natural TimeTrial, so we couldn't miss the genre: here is Power Drift, by SEGA, year 1988.
This is a very fast race, with sharp curves and excited gameplay.
It has 5 courses, a little too much for a week, so I chose the Course A only, which is quite enough. And a F14-Tomcat is nice to drive. (If you don't get the point of this last phrase, get 1st every time and you'll realize
According to my data there's no difference between drivers, so feel free to pick the character you prefer.
Just like the first turn: Wolfmame 150 and default settings. The maximum goal in this tournament is the Course-A completed (all 6 stages). Uncompleted games will count, with the time of the last finished race.
EDIT 2013-11-16: Method to count frames is: Start with the frame in which green light goes on, Stop in the frame when your car appears in the table at the center of the screen of the last completed stage.
Old rule was: "For this turn we'll use the official in-game timing."
Round Duration: Sunday November 10th, 00:00:00 GMT - Saturday November 16th, 23:59:59 GMT
TIME REMAINING
Suggested digital-input regulations.
For digital controller I use these settings:
Gear Shift = Joystick button 2
Paddle analog = none
Paddle analog dec = Joystick left
Paddle analog inc = Joystick right
P1 pedal 1 analog = n/a
P1 pedal 1 analog dec = none
P1 pedal 1 analog inc = Joystick button 0
P1 pedal 2 analog = n/a
P1 pedal 2 analog dec = none
P1 pedal 2 analog inc = Joystick button 1
Here are the resources:
Wolfmame 150 - Batch files for this game
There are 3 batch files inside each zip:
Play.bat (normal play without recording, you can train with pause or savestates)
Record.bat (to record a new inp, keeps backup of the previous recording)
Replay.bat (to see the last recorded inp)
*ATTENTION PLEASE*: differently from the two previous titles, that did not use NVRAM, Power Drift DO create and use it. These batch files I have prepared for you delete nvram file just before recording/replay. If you use something else to play, pay attention in deleting the NVRAM by yourself!
Go!

Tomorrow morning I'll change my information sign, for now it's better to keep the actual countdown for people playing Pitfall2, there are still 21 minutes

Re: TimeTrial 2013 - R3 - Power Drift (Course A) [pdrift]
If I have correctly understood, your problem is of the "unrecognized USB peripheral" kind.
Googling "ps2 joypad win drivers", better with the model of your pad, will show some options.
Since the week is short and these drivers issues can last a lot, maybe you can try with your habitual digital controller. This game doesn't really need an analog steering wheel, possibly an analog accelerator only: but you'll find that both can be substituted with digital controllers quite decently.

I'm guessing which ever script you're using to record is deleting the cfg file, which I think stores your controls.kernzy wrote:this game makes me feel sick!!

Re: TimeTrial 2013 - R3 - Power Drift (Course A) [pdrift]
I think you are deleting the file cfg\pdrift.cfg in the cfg directory, instead (or besides) deleting the nvram\pdrift\backupram file.
The only file you need to kill every time is nvram\pdrift\backupram .
An easier option is to delete the directory nvram (if existing) and create in its place an empty file called nvram.
This works in 99,9% of cases, because emulator can't create nvram directory at all.
In 0,1% of cases you have a game that needs to create a nvram file to work, for example Hyper Athlete: in this case you have to delete the file every time before recording, and can't use the fake nvram file trick.
