Question about mame 106. Possible to have it play input file

Post by isamu »

Hi guys. I am using mame 106 and was wondering if it is possible to set it up to play multiple input files consecutively one after another automatically? Is there a plugin or something that can do this?

Not really, best you could do is to make a batch file to run one session of MAME after the other for each INP, and even then, there is no way to automatically exit MAME, you'd have to push ESC when you're finished watching each INP.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting that you mention this....come to think of it, assuming I *do* make a batch file, each session would not know when the previous session is done playing the input file, so thay'd all be playing and overlapping each other, which is not the idea. Oh well, thanks anyway, let's hope someone good with mame development reads this and maybe compile special version of 106 that allows us to place inp files into a "queue" if you will, so that it continuously plays them one after the other consecutively. That'd be awesome.

Unfortunatley no one will ever recompile an old version to add a new feature, unless you do it yourself. You could create a program that forked off a batch of mame runs and then each terminating the process at a time estimated the recording would be finished playing back, and then start the new one. Of course you may still have to press 'OK' keys for each mame playback in the batch to start.

Are you interested in a mame slide show application? This would be a nice feature. But probably more likely feature be added to a mame gui more so than mame.
