WOLFMAME-0.106 RESOLUTION PROBLEMS...

HI ALL.
i've been looking on here but i cannot find the answers i require.
i went to play a game on mame and i found the resolution was all wrong. the screen size was shorter and wider than normal. also my games list changed from "details" to "grouped". (thought i'd mention that as well as it may be linked). i don't understand why it would change. the last time it happened, i deleted mame and re-installed it, only to find it was still wrong.
i have messed about with the default settings, even though they looked the same as usual, and i still have issues. now the screen is a bit taller than normal, a more accurate size, but now the graphics are very blocky. i have found the mame index page, (http://strategywiki.org/wiki/MAME/Configure) but it does not help with what i need.
there are so many options in the mame settings, and some seem to do nothing at all. some are greyed out (such as "stretch using hardware" and "aspect ratio"). i spent hours last year checking/unchecking boxes and playtesting, then checking another box and try again and so on, wrote all my settings down, and now i cannot find it!! and for some reason, if i did find it and copy the settings, i feel it would still be wrong!!
i'm sure most people have had this issue before, so i thought i'd ask the pro's.
i'm just bewildered that it changed on it's own.
thank you very much in advance.
very frustrating!!

I get that sometimes too. Usually its directx or something crashing. Windows Media Player won't play videos when that happens either. Rebooting always fixes it for me.

Try the commandline version, and add "-r 640x480" to the commandline.
It should work
