Track & Field marathon settings on MARP?

Post by Alessandro.S »

Hi all,

given recent discussions over at TG, how about MARP starts tracking

- marathon settings on one life (no 100k extra lives)
- marathon settings with extra life every 100k

?

I'd love to submit INPs for the first at the very least, and if the wife leaves for a weekend perhaps even the second one

Good call. Tried over 10 yrs ago to get this tracked on TG, and here.

I think the extra men is a cop-out. One life only...no fuck-ups!!!

I don't see why not. I don't think everyone would want to do marathons on every single romset though so how about changing the rules on one of the clone romsets into a romset that marathons are allowed on?

The clone romsets are:

Atlant Olimpic [atlantol]
Hyper Olympic [hyprolym]
Hyper Olympic (bootleg) [hyprolymb]
Track & Field (Centuri) [trackfldc]
Track & Field (New Zealand bootleg?) [trackfldnz]

The last one, trackfldnz, doesn't work yet unfortunately.

If people aren't comfortable with seeing the 1-round scores on any of these romsets getting beaten, then... I'm sure Pat could put in a split for one of the romsets (probably the parent in this case)

I think Pat won't split based upon setting alone. But, I think Pat should in this case. If there is a request out there that people want to play a certain way, I think a split is in order. One of the less trafficed clones would do too, but a clean split means you could leave recordings intact and just start marthoning in the split.

I haven't played all the clones, but at least hyprolym differed (when played in xwolf104 a while ago) from trackfld and hyprolymb in the hammer throw, where you couldn't reach the 98m50 base throw by going close to the line on the bottom of the screen, so that clone should be left out of the potential list of candidates to pick a marathonable ROM.

I will have a look at others in the next days and post back with comments on other inconsistencies.

Good idea.

I suggest we do it on main romset though, trackfld...since that way we can also submit same score to TG...

Just one split, say trackfld-mth... (mth=marathon)

And no extras... just one man but as many rounds as one can play. I know Al and me could make millions bitd...
Although someone was pushing jump button for me on 110m, at arcade. :)
Guess I still should be able to play what might be called a marathon...

Any progress on this? Pat?

Apologies for the delay...

I decided to just split the original ROMset from mame30 to allow for marathon attempts.

trackfld-m "Track & Field [Marathon]"

Special rule will be:
• Multiple rounds allowed with ONE life only

Heh :) I'll tell you this weekend, wife's going to visit her parents and I'll bring out the tankstick... 99m in javelin are beyond reach for me, but I think I can do better than 600k :!:

Just one clarification please - I'm not sure whether I'll be playing wolf106 or wolfmame-latest; is the ROM to be used trackfld in any MAME release - that is, if I play wolf106 I can pick trackfld from MAME 0.106 and if I play wolf145 or so I can pick trackfld from MAME 0.145 ?

And obviously thanks Pat !!

You can use both 106 and 145 wolfies. I'll be using 106 so that I can submit to TG as well...found the rom with first link so it's probably not changed since.

I raised the bar a bit :) Your turn folks!

Great stuff Tommi! A good opener. Just had a game of 3 rounds just now. Satisfied with speeds (barely above average).
Will try a proper session tomorrow. Problem is my X-Arcade has a loose wire somewhere and the red light (i.e. connection) goes out periodically. It happened just now on HJ, but had time to plug out and back in!
