I don't see parodiusa listed in the '1st' page, so perhaps Pat has missed this one?

how do i check my speed of game play? I had one of these shooting games DQ'D Becouse of Slowness ...

I had never had this happen with it was'nt a game problem/rom problem.

Press F11 to display emulator speed. It will also show the recorded speed when playing back an INP.

I just tryed playing a game with wolf142 and i can see where you saying low 80's and then i would see low 90's when something was'nt happening.

What causes this video card ?

To much going on and the video card can'nt handle the speed of everything?

or something else? Or is this just a slow game roms? That why other scores got DQ'D?

It can be video settings or slow computer but a lot of the times it's simply newer mame trying to emulate things better makes things slower. Give a shot at wolf106 or an earlier mame before 125, should run smoother.

O.k. i figured it out too being the newer mame programs ... With the games in question..

The problem with going too an older verson of mame . Most of these games where either broken or not in the older versons of mame.

I really think this rule should be changed for the games in question. Becouse it's not our fault for the slowness of everything.

If the games can't be played at the minimum speed by your system, then you'll just have to wait until you have a faster machine that can play them at the minimum speed if you want to submit them at Marp. The minimum speed requirement is to ensure that an unfair advantage is not being obtained over what it would be like playing these games in the arcades, or versus someone who already has a machine capable of playing the game at full speed. There are a large number of games I can't play and submit on currently due to our machine being over 8 years old. That's just the way it is if your machine isn't up to the task!

For some games, it may be a very long time, if ever, before they are playable at a sufficient speed. Especially given the current CPU manufacturer penchant for more cores and slower clock speed. Maybe Mame will eventually make better use of multi-core machines to improve the emulation performance for the more advanced games?!?

Note: If that rule wasn't always enforced, then imagine the complaints in 3 or 5 or xx years time, when machines are capable of playing these games at the minimum speed, that these old recordings should be deleted due to not being up to speed. It's just easier, and more sensible, to permanently disallow recordings that don't meet the minimum speed requirements.

Cheers,
BeeJay.

Well if someone can beat my scores in 10 years good for them. I just played one of these on wolfmame106 and it plays fine.

They keep putting out these different mame programs and adding games. They change the name of roms for no reason and then old mame users can not get older rom sets becouse everything is going with the newer versions.

Heck i could'nt get a mario Brothers 106 rom becouse of this i had too have a buddy help me out with it.

getting old rom versions can suck, but a few archives out there are based on older versions, just make sure to check all references in google for a specific game (a task i know) but it's possible to find.

I thought of something else to check for speed issues. Even though many times it's the fault of new mames to slow stuff down, it's also possible that something else is running on your computer at the same time you are playing mame that will slow it down. You've probably already checked this, but just in case to check performance: run mame in a window and also startup task manager and sort by "CPU Usage" to see if mame is the only thing that is using processor time while you are playing/recording.

Anti-virus/anti-spyware and some backup programs can also get in the way too. As a quick test, try taking your machine offline and disable the anti-whatever you have running and that may also help. Switch it back on after the test, obviously. If it helped, start looking for the settings to add exclusions - exclude the mame executable and your INP directory.
