Well! There is only one game that I know of that will award you a free games without inserting coin by using a special tricks.

Destination Earth is one of them.

When the demo screen come up. Hold Right + Fire button down. Wait until the mothership move left to right then the spaceship start to descend from the mothership, press player 1 button once or more while right+fire button is still down. The game will award you 3 free games.

The real machine use left + right and fire button down. I'm not sure why Mame version use right + fire button only?

This trick won't work on Lunar Rescue or any Space Invaders clones (with hack version w/o Taito copyright, AFAIK)

cmon.... Mr Do, Ladybug off the top of my head have where you can earn a "special" and pop a credit.

I am sure there are others...just can't think of them off top of my head.

Ln2, there is a difference between an in game advertised proceedure,
and a 'hidden' feature as notman states above.

Mr Do: Random Diamond. Advertised during attract mode
Ladybug: Spell Special while red. Pretty much advertised.

Destination Earth sounds like a bug, as does Tempest. Rygar would be in the same category depending on the settings.
