For normal modes (from beginner (1st course) to advanced (3rd course) and special course (Boss-rush mode) which is enabled by secret code: Up,Down,Up,Down,Left,Right,Left,Right,A,B,Start at title time counting screen.... make sure player 2 buttons aren't same as your control and shooting buttons or else code won't work(batrider)
AS for bbakradu (Battle bakraid unlimited it's only version which has bonus ships and boss-rush mode under advanced course) it is enabled from first launch

It is not necesary. You choose your mode. If you want more points then play on harder mode. Stages are still the same. Score is important only.

Interesting debate there.
I don't really agree with you on this one, Des.
Because in Special Course, you have full power-up all the time, and this change the gameplay IMO.
I find this interesting enough to choose it for WCC anyway, and a split has been added for that (both in batrider, batridra, batridrk).
Of course we can debate there, and later move the "-sc" splits to archive if lot of people think that doesn't deserve a split.

Hey des, in special course you fight only bosses that's a fact, you can fight 9 of them if you use only batrider characters, 15 if you mix your squad with batrider&mahou character, 12 if you mix your squad with batrider and garrega character.... anf if you mix your squad with all three types of characters (batrider, mahou and garrega) you will fight all 19 of them (batrider)

Then we must split more games. Ex. CavemanNinja because you can choose different ways to go during game (A, B) and points are different and difficulty too. Rockman - different courses ... etc. Otherwise we can debate.

Next example:

Normal and beginner mode. Split isn;t required because ahwen you playu on beginner you will never beat normal mode scores. The same is in bbakrid and batrider.

Lot of games with beginner and normal play (gangonta for example) but same gameplay.
In batrider-sc, you have "full power-up" so this isn't really same gameplay ...

And you fight all bosses, depends if you want to fight hidden ones like bashinet then use guest characters in your squad

You can beat all bossess and all stages during normal play. You can get full power too.

batrider was already split creating a special course, but I am considering backing it out after WCC is over. bbakraid and bbakradu, have not been split for a couple of reasons. Unlike batrider, these two games do not have a dip switch setting for Special Course. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, Special Course is really a power up sequence which IMO does not warrant a split. Otherwise a whole bunch of games would now need to be split. As an example, some Bubble Bobble recordings have used power ups and these should be DQed. Is it OK that the clone has a 1st place score using power ups? My take on this is that there are too many games with hidden sequences or easter eggs, use of which provides an advantage beyond regular game play and thus should be considered cheating.

9 years later, and it only now becomes an issue? And how is it even relevant to Batrider or Battle Bakraid? By this reckoning, we ought to drop Garou Survival Mode too, as that's a "hidden sequence" also.

Speaking of hidden sequences, a couple of 1943 scores use a weapons code which I really knew nothing about until some crap at Funspot. Maybe a mention in the special rules would be good idea?

That is a totally different animal, Garou's "hidden sequence" creates a new MODE -- not a new COURSE nor a power-up advantage.
As far as the connection between batrider and bubble bobble... Since it wasn't clear I'll explain in a different way. I just split batrider. (Forget for a moment the split was primarily for WCC.) Had I not done that, players would still have to figure out which course would give them the most points. So why should a split be created, when a player could get the highest scores just by using the "hidden sequence", and specify as such in the comments? For years Bubble Bobble never had a split for players that elect to use hidden advantages! Why does batrider "deserve" a split now if it could be viewed as simply a power-up advantage? However, if it is considered a different course with different gameplay, then that is what should be debated, and whether a split is warranted.
