Even the Associated Press, which is usually above such stuff, had a little fun at the late singer's expense, in a piece on Falco's funeral. "Somewhat like Mozart," it began, "the Austrian pop star Falco lived in excess and died in disgrace." The story went on to describe the lapidary excesses of the dieter-sprocketish crowd, who the writer described as "wearing Falcoesque sunglasses on an overcast day." The piece ended poetically, with an old lady laying a rose on Falco's grave, and saying, "there was Mozart, Schubert, and Falco."

right. Falco had some great songs, "Vienna Calling" "der kommissar", etc. but After the Fire's extended version rocks the most. Falco was cool, Why was his death in disgrace?

According to Wikipedia - he died of severe injuries received following his collision with a bus in his Mitsubishi Pajero

Nothing disgraceful in that I'd say. Unless he was drunk or something??

hmm, will have to get after the fire to remember that one.

I remember the 3 hits...the 2 you list above plus rock me amadeus

there was a nice 7+ minute and think even an 11-13+ minute versions of rock me amadeus that rocked too...got into stuff the single didn't include..although remember there were 3 versions of the single released as well.

wonder how many artists had songs like that that had multiple version single releases that all got airplay at same time like that.

LN2 - I seem to remember Paul Hardcastle had numerous versions of 19 when that came out. All my friends seemed to have different versions of it.

MJS - Hehe, I knew about the "Pajero" slang thing from years ago. That's why they renamed it and they became Mitsubishi Shogun's.

a search for after the fire kommissar online brings up a video of the band performing the song.

...I only watched the first minute...but wow....sounded almost exactly like falco...so much so I thought the guy was just lip-syncing to it.

the lyrics were close to the same just none in german. But the extended version was nice with some cool instrumental bridges. Only place i've ever seen it on CD is

Richard Blade's Flashback Favorites - Volume 1
6. After The Fire "Der Kommissar" (Long Version)

long live falco
