MARP Election Rule Vote: Should Self-Nominations Be Allowed?

Existing MARP election rules explicitly prohibit members from nominating themselves for a coordinator position, but such self-nominations have been allowed in the last several elections.

To bring MARP rules in line with recent election practices, I propose changing the MARP election rules to allow members to nominate themselves for coordinator positions.

Voting on this Rule Change will continue for 7 days until 03:00 GMT Nov 23rd

I vote in favor of allowing self-nominations.

-George (gastrainga) - Election Coordinator

PS - If this rule change fails, I personally re-nominate all self-nominations this election cycle in order to comply with the rules.

Yes of course (it's the principle of any democratic election to allow someone to claim himself as candidate)

Voting is complete. The rule change passes by a vote of 9-0.

Can one of the website maintainers please change Election rule II.A.2 in rules/election.htm to read, "Any member may nominate himself".

Thanks
