I've always pronounced marp (americanized) with an ahh schwah sound in the middle followed by the r and p consinants, as in carp or bar followed by the letter P. I wonder if the british or others pronounce it as MOP or spell it out instead of pronouncing it m.a.r.p.?

MARP rhymes harp or carp, however one pronounces them.

The vowel sound in those words however, is not the schwa sound, which is not an "ahh" but a very de-emphasized "uh" sound, like the e in "system", or the vowel sound before the L in "circle".

that that backwards e always had me confused, i guess if you had a schwa in marp it would be murp.

Yep. In Finnish it's murp, in English same as you...
