It's only a small pause, if any, and usually only for the first use. No big deal there.

I think the point destructor is trying to make is that taking screenshots while recording can result in the playback desyncing at that point.
I always advise gamers to take the screenshots on playback of their inp....not during recording.
..although right at the end for the high score table...doesn't really matter if sync is lost then.

well, whether he was or wasn't, taking screenshots while recording can interfere with playbackability.

I would highly doubt that, unless you're using auto frameskipping and playing one of those games that are touchy about changing frameskip level.
Give an example, please.

Believe me that on my Celeron 1Ghz this works excellent as pause, especially when I hit F12 more than 1 time in a row. I observe FPS counter, 100% always.

Obviously, the speed won't change until after the screenshot is written, at which point it should dip in speed a bit, then speed up, in an attempt to average out the speed, if possible.
Then again, Celerons suck for MAME.

Maybe it is not Celeron issue but my slow and almost full HD. I think better will be disable F12 key in future.

barry, we have several cases of this at TG.
as most gamers try and submit screenshots of their gameplay along with their inp and wlf files.
however, you might be right that in most cases it's an issue of this and using a dynamic frameskip so on playback where you aren't hitting the F12 it would result in desync for frameskip sensitive games.
I have not looked to see if each and every case was this.
I always encourage users to not use dynamic frameskip while recording.
perhaps that is what should be deactivated.
force a fixed frameskip while recording.
