what a pity! for 3 important errors you can't appear in gamest record list for a title of "world champion in cabal".

- in stage 9 you miss 50.000pts, because the first house release a bomb and not 50.000 bonus (in this case is random, but is preferable destroy small object before... because if you obtain a bomb from other small objects, then you can take bonus points more easy, probability % increase)

- very big mistake in stage 3-4 (last boss). When a single pixel of energy remaining, you miss bonus point because you use a bomb versus small parts of this boss, and your score increase 0 pts. If you destroy a Truck (blue vehicle) you obtain 50.000 pts!

- tiny for 40.000 pts lost during boss of 4-4.

140.000 total miss

if you try again you can finish this game with 3.900.000 and world record will be yours.

geesh, he sets a great score and you knock him down pointing out the mistakes. If I did that I would have tons shunning me for it. Others do it and it slides. ...not this time.

he submitted it for the deca 2006 contest. He knows he can get more. He thinks 4 million might be possible but he was not about to discuss the techniques.

there are other tactics he intentionally did not do because he felt it was not necessary for the deca.

why are you assuming this score is his "best"?

I don't think he is going to submit a better score for this game unless he gets beaten and challenged for the top score.

What i said was only a constructive critic, those were only my suggestion to let him improve his score.

I don't understand why you assaulted me that way.

I read Gemant's post to basically mean "Good replay, here are some techniques that would allow you to break the gamest record. Please try them."

I found nothing offensive in his post.

Well... so, I feel free to post here some details about my 1,774,150 INP. Of course, it is very far from a "near-perfect" play... and I will play it again only if beaten on DECA tournament. And sincersly, I think Martin Bedard and/or BBH will do it.


- About the "NO BONUS" (only 10k or higher):
1-4: 10k
3-1: 50k (that Ghemant said)
3-4: 20k
3-4: 10k
5-2: 20k
5-3: 20k
5-3: 10k (not destructed... stage over!)
TOTAL: 140k (This was my most "bad lucky" INP ever! )


- Random:

Yes... it is random, but I disagree on your method... because is not RULED like "you will get at least ONE 'no bonus' in every stage"... so I prefer to destroy the high-bonus buildings before.


- Truck +50k:

Yep... I already know this trick... but I simply FORGOT about it on that play. Ouch!
"Other little tip that I forgot to use in my INP, is to destroy (by last) the "cabin" of the truck. You will got 50k more if your last hit is in Cabin, instead of 5k when last hit in any cannon."


- Best use of "sacrifice" tactic:
On my INP, I would can "sacrifice" 2 more lives on 3rd boss. However I tried this "more safe" way... and these lives I would "sacrifice" on 4th boss.
On 3rd boss you can earn 100k in each death. On 4th your maximum is 80k each death.


- Potential maximum score:I estimate this "potential maximum score" (considering "human" play, with "feelings", and without "tool" assistances) ...
+ 140k => builiding's NOBONUS I lost;
+ 50k => if last hit on truck's CABIN on 3rd boss;
+ 40k => if destructed one more "box" on 4th boss, in one of my lives there.
+ 40k => if I would sacrificed 2 more lives on 3rd boss (3rd=100k each life) (4th=80k each life). 2 x 20k = 40k.
+ 170k => if I leeched more on stages 4 and 5 (I was without lifes and grenades, so I was not so agressive.
3775k + the "possible" 470k = 4,245,000


- 105k trick:
I discovered (or "developed"?) a trick to get around 105k more. The risk is high (but not "near-impossible"... it is "do-able"). I am not sure if I will try this during DECA... maybe later... however I will call it just as "105k trick" for now
And with the 105k trick = 4,350,000 the potential maximum for "humans"


- Score 4,350,000
\o/ .. but it is not for me! And I think also not for this DECA!
I think 4 millions would be a excellent mark to anyone reach in this DECA.


- Last boss:
Btw, generally I tried to reach last stage/boss with more grenades on stock, mainly because you have around 66 seconds to beat the last boss. If not, boss time is over and you lose the 500k bonus. In this INP, I reached the last boss with LESS than my desired amount of grenades... but it is ok now

PS.: It is not so deep like Destructor's "FAQs", however I think it is good...

I read Ghemant's statements like he seems to think that was Valter's best so gives tips to better that score. That is fine for what it is worth.

It could have been phrased where that score is not far from perfect....then list where extra points can be gotten.

Instead he lists "mistakes".

I am sorry if you think I assaulted you Ghemant. I did not assault you at all...just thought the "mistakes" were putting down his accomplishment...which definitely is not his best even. You seem to assume that was his best.

Most scores I have here are not my best at all...a few are though.

bad assumption to think a score posted at MARP is even that player's personal best unless they note that.

he played that within the Deca 2006 contest...you often just set a decent score and move on to work on other games where you are not as strong of a player.

one thing Ghemant mentioned which from what I have seen referring all of the deca submissions for cabal is that most of the time if you get a grenade from a building instead of the points it is the first structure you blow up.

I would need to more closely watch to see the percentages...but most of the time it seems to be that first one...so perhaps if you always started by blowing up a little rock or barrel etc. that was only worth 1000-3000 and get the grenade, then you are almost 100% to get the big 10k, 20k, 30k, 50k points from structures in that same stage.

I have seen grenages happen in the middle of stages also..but it seems far less frequent versus the first one destroyed.

I might play Cabal again only when I finish all the other games. Been working 50+ hour weeks for the last 6 weeks so I haven't played much and it's really getting down to the wire. I hope to get around 3.4 million if there's time. In spite of your mistakes the 3.7 million is very good TRB, I don't think I'll have time to challenge it, BBH maybe?

See my 3-4 stage... 2 x "no bonus". I already got no bonus in the beginning of the stage, and in other parts too. Maybe a few more time in the beginning. However I yet will start stages shooting buildings.
To compare, about the "random" question, in 1-1 sometimes I got a lot of grenades hitting the bushs instantly. Sometimes I got nothing!
Other situation is when start the raining bombs, the "luck" factor increase a lot!

I'll probably be playing Cabal again at some point, but mainly just in the hopes of any score improvement. Don't think I can top TRB's score without a bit of work/luck, and it wouldn't be in my best interests to focus on that when I have bad percentages on some other games. I've already lost a lot of desire to play those any more, though ;\
