Toobin

OK ; now competition is finished on Toobin (wwc6-week7) I think it's time to take a decision.
For reminder, mame default difficulty on this game changed in m36b14 from easiest to medium.
So we have better scores made with versions older than 36b14, but that's very unfair with people playing with later versions.
My proposal :
create an archive entry named "*toobin-easy" or "*toobin-old" and move there all inputs older than m36b14 (like that, they aren't lost but rankings on Marp Regulation are fairer).
Opinions ?

I think Phil's proposal is a good idea.

I agree.

Then -old(easy) should be archived, which would be a bit unfair for old scores.
what's the difference with easiest and medium...Is there a lot difference?

According to Notman (who watched old inputs), yes ...
Maybe -after this weeek if he is busy on f1gp- Pat want to try a run on easiest (when the start up screen come up, press F2 to get the setup menu, press 1 & 2 at same time to bypass the first step of menu, then turn diff to easiest) ?
Let us know by uploading there what you can do on this setting ...

I don't think this is accurate. I checked this going to service mode at:
m33b6(DOS)
m35tg3b(win)
m36final(win)
wolfmame103
...All those had difficulty set at medium and other options at default settings(green) too.
I know that some Atari games as Starwars list dip switches at some versions wrongly. I think most if not all Atari games want you to go to service mode and changing dips does not do anything, only changing difficulty at service mode works. Maybe this was the confusion?
If so, we can add default settings to all toobins to prevent further confusion.

To be clear: At Toobin, all MAME versions are at default settings...
So there should not be any problems?

Running MAME32 0.35 now, I get it defaulting to medium. If I delete hi\toobin.hi (cheap hack for NVRAM they used then), it still defaults to medium. I swear when I first ran Toobin in that version, it defaulted to easy.
Remember, Toobin' has NO DIP switches. The game itself determines the default settings. I guess, though, that it is possible that the Slapstik protection (if Toobin uses it, that is) could cause a change in defaults.

Added special rules for Toobin+clones just to make sure there wont be future confusion.
Toobin
Since there seems not to be valid reason to assume early recordings were recorded with easy settings, could the editor who edited toobin+clones descriptions remove those comments thanks.

Also added special rules for
ESB
because of this

I hopefully just ended this "medium vs easy difficulty" controversy with my old recording. I just submitted a new hi score with mame v104.
