Bomberman World and clones special rule for vs mode

Hi !
When i saw the thread about what game can be archived i searched and found some games where 1st positions are taken by more than one player so i will try to find a way to propose you a special rule for those game when it is possible.
1st is with the versus mode in Bomberman World
In this game there are 4 players with 1st place :
http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... _game=1000
In this game : 5 players with 1st place
http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... _game=1000
And nothing for the others bomblord which doesn't work and newapunk surely because nobody thought in doing it.
So my proposal is :
Game won = 120 pts + (120 - time left)
Game lost = 0 pts + (120 - time left)
I think this can encourage in beeing the quickiest without waiting for the computer to loose
So what do you think about that ?

Sounds ok. so it would be for bbmanw-vs and bbmanwj-vs.
Why 120 points?
Players agree?
Edit: Is it like game ends after 5 victories?
...Since that scoring would give more points to fastest loser, if game does continue after 5 wins, which would be unfair.

120 points because timer is at 120 on each round.
I thought the game ends after 5 games and not only 5 wins but finally not, you can win more than 5 games, the only thing to do is to not loose or draw a game because there is 3 lives.
It seems that each player wins 5 games (des - mike - moreno - predator) and they lost 1, 2 or 3 games (the other were draw games) but the game doesn't make difference in the rate.
So if we count this fact, it could be good to do like this for calculating points :
- 1000 points for a round won + (120 - time left)
- 500 points for a round draw + (120 - time left)
- 0 pts for a round lost + (120 - time left)
It is not so easy to be in a draw so i think that we can make a difference between lost and draw but the game doesn't make the difference and makes you loose a life so maybe that we souldn't count point for draw and lost game so it encourages only in winning games the fastiest possible.
What do you think of this ?
Maybe the most simple is to beat the 5 wins
If there is a special rule it must be for :
bbmanw-vs (parent)
bbmanwj-vs (clone)
bomblord-vs (clone not working for the moment)
newapunk-vs (clone)

I think the idea relating to archiving relevant for the 'tied' games is whether it's trivially simple to get the top score...which this game is not; you must learn to play...but avoiding ties is a good idea too. Perhaps a bonus for extra men left at end as well?

Don't agree with sawys. I think current score system for this game is good. Game don't end after 5 battles. Try to win 6 battles.

I don't think it's good system if top 5 scores can be same.
Adding time in to equation would surely be better.
Unless, as a player, you think time has nothing to do with measuring skill between players?
My proposal would be:
Code: Select all
Round won = 120 pts + (120 - time left)
No points for round lost
Oookay?

It's no time trial.

Like that would be a good argument.
You're not trying to make my work any easier, are you.

That sounds better than ny suggestion before, because of 1000 points for a round won:
So my latest suggestion would be:
Code: Select all
1000 points for a round won + (120 - time left)
Simpler the better.
OK?
And Des shouldn't have any problems with that. If you win one match more than other players you are quaranteed to have first place.
"+ (120 - time left)" would be only to differentiate players that have equal amount of wins.
If you lose a man when draw, then you shouldn't get extra points for draw either, as Sawys wrote.
Game over

Looks good to me. There's a good chance that this prevent many draws.

Special rules edited for:
BBMANW-VS
BBMANWJ-VS
(there are no MARP entrys/splits for bomblord-vs or newapunk-vs)
-----------
Players can now edit their scores for bbmanw-vs and bbmanwj-vs

Ahh, TJT, sory. Rule is wrong

Time is decrease, not increase. Then should be:
1000 + time_left
not 1000 + (120 - time_left)

Hi !
The special rule is exact because it is easier to calculate the time spend calculating 120 - time left (like appears on the screen) instead of saying on the special rule that it is the time spend to win the level.
You understand me ?
