Gambling games, leaderboard points

DISCUSSION

This poll is to decide if we will give leaderboard points for gambling games:

Misc betting (19)
Misc. betting "mature" (6)
casino (20)

If you choose "Yes, archive gambling games" -it means that gambling games DON'T GET leaderboard points. You can still submit them normally at MARP.

If you choose "No, do not archive gambling games" -it means that gambling games GET leaderboard points.
-------

This poll has nothing to do with mahjong games.
This poll will run 7 days.

So, what ever happened as a result of this poll? 5 years later, and gambling game spam is still ruining the leaderboard.

The issue was discussed, then voted on, now the only thing left is the actual archiving, right? Is there any reason why it hasn't happened yet?

This one has even more approval many years later. Sorry to the gambling addicts, who will still be able to upload gambling scores, and i'll still be the only one who confirms them once I find the *.id files. I have sent a message to the PL and Zwaxy to get them moved off of the leaderboard points.

Phil, once this is technically possible, we'll need a list of all the gambling games to give it to the people doing the work of inactivation or moving away from the leaderboard. What is the best way to do this? Search for poker/casino/slot in the name or we use that mame grouping site.

I think that in the future we'll have to do something about that "Has 27 clones" thing too, but at the moment it will be a *great* forward step to nuke gambling games to the grave =D>

Agree they don't count in leaderboard.
Regarding that, I got an idea to improve the whole leaderboard :

We should add for each game a parameter giving "type" of the game (shooter, fighter, sports, gambling, etc) : we can use Catlist for example.
Then we should add to the leaderboard a menu like we already have for example in "loads" page (see picture below) replacing "games with any score", "games with confirmed scores" etc by "shooter", "fighter", "sports" etc

Then everybody could tick/untick any type of games he likes/dislikes and build his own leaderboard.
For example we should know who is 1st in a specific type of games (like shooters).

I don't know if it's hard to do, I'm trying to contact Zwaxy for several days.
But it could satisfy everyone I hope.
Archive was basically created only for non working games, non playbacking games, or games easy to tie or max out

I also agree with Rax on this point : a guy mastering a game with 27 clones will still get more LB points than a guy mastering a game without clone.

I was thinking about a "grouping" method, but I still don't know exactly how (only counting parent rom should be one, but some games have only clone working, other which were parent became clone recently etc ...).
