Reward: $100 (usd) (in honor of MAME .100)
Deadline for submission to MARP: September 30, 2005 2359 hours GMT
Further Bounty: $100 for reaching the "killscreen" this week. $250 for exceeding 921,360 by December 31, 2005.
Wanted to do a $100 bounty this week in honor of MAME .100, so I thought it should be a true classic. George Strain has kindly offered to put up the weekly prize, and I will offer the further bounties.
Personally, I played the original Pac-Man only because it was so immensely popular and by the time Ms. Pac-Man came out I wasn't interested in pursuing the theme any more, especially a "girl's" version. I was more into the fast-action games like Defender. (All the sadder that I never got very good at that either.)
It could well be argued that this was the most popular game from the Golden Era, however. It certainly seems that more of these have survived to the present day than any other arcade machine from that time period.

Chris Ayra's long-standing record on the arcade game was very recently broken by Robotron record-holder Abdner Ashman. We'll set the big further bounty at that threshold, and also offer a premium for reaching the killscreen. A lot of us would really like to see a world class MAME inp on this title.
