In game properties (or source properties), I am trying to chance the "default key settings" to other than "Standard" to some games, but I am having problems...

For sample: My default (Standard) key configuration is:
Button1, Button2, Button3, Button4, Button5, Button6:
Num4, Num5, Num6, Num1, Num2, Num3.

To some games (neogeo.c source) I want to use:
Num4, Num5, Num1, Num2, nothing, nothing.

In CTRLR folder I created NEOGEO.cfg (.CFG or .INI? not sure now) file, copied the keys (text) from SAMSHO (that just was with my "wished" config), and pasted to NEOGEO.cfg file.

Now, this option appear when I go to properties... "default key settings", but if selected, the game don't load. It is relative to the line (in NEOGEO.cfg) that originaly have ' ="default" '. If I change it to "samsho", that game run ok, however I want it to all games "neogeo.c".

I already "linked"/"related" the CTRLR files (neogeo) to the CFG folder, but not success!!!

Some help???

-Changing tab-"settings(general)" should change settings for all games in that mame version.

-Changing tab-"settings(this game) will change settings for that game only

-I recall sometimes having trouble changing inputs, because somehow general and one game settings seemed to conflict with each other

why not have multiple "default" files?


then just drag-n-copy/drop the one you want to use when you play neogeo games.

then a different one for non-neogeo games etc.

so it's just a matter of which one you use.

seems like the easiest way to me.

This is my wish, however I can configure only
Changing tab-"settings(general)" and/or
-Changing tab-"settings(this game)".
Don't have an option "settings (this source)".

I created a 2nd "default" file (I copyed/pasted the default one and renamed it to "neogeo"), changed the configs as my wishes, and changed the source properties to this new file. However, when I try to play, the game don't finish the load and return to the gui screen.

Is hard to explain it... if possible, please try to do like LN2 said and you will see what is my problem.

All I want is to use the tools available (to make the life easier)...
