Vasara 2 and clone split ?

Post by sawys »

Hi !
At jvrm, a contest is on vasara2 on default settings which means that we play on difficult (12 stages).

I watched bbh replay and saw that he plays on easy (6 stages)

I certify that the difficulty of the game is increased in the difficult mode.
The speed of the bullets is faster and there are more bullets.

I think that this game and his clone should be split in 2 :
vasara2-d for difficult (12 stages)
vasara2-e for easy (6 stages)
Identically for the clone

Thank you for the answer.

For the mame team : I noticed that the game crashes after a while when i want to play with the character on the bottom of the selection screen.

Only if Twinbee Yahhoo and the Taisen Puzzle-dama/Tokkae-dama games get split again... :)

I precise that this crash appears only with the original and not with the clone :D

Difficulty or dip switch settings have not been a reason for splits at MARP.
You can beat bbh using same difficulty, or harder. :)

1 - Oh yes, you're right, i verified on cawing and i saw that marp doesn't make the difference between mode advance and normal and it's regretable, it could be a new challenge for each game with multpiple difficulty (i don't talk about dipswitch).

2 - Woooow do you think i can really bet him in harder mode, no i will try after the contest in the easy mode but i'm not sure i have the capacity

I wasn't aware that I was "supposed" to play it on Difficult... if that's a requirement for the JVRM contest, then too bad. No rule against it here, and Kold666's recordings were done on Easy too.

A player selecting Easy is ultimately limiting themself since there are only 6 stages, but nobody's submitted a recording that even clears all 6 stages on Easy yet. So what's the problem?

And yeah, this doesn't really warrant a split.

At JVRM, if there is no precision, then we must play on default selection and difficult is the default selection so i and the others play like this for the contest but you can be sure that i will play after on easy cos playing difficult is a really good training :)

I remember now that at jvrm we talk about this and that we decided to create 2 classifications [Easy] and [Difficult] cos it's like if it was another game on easy.

Nobody submitted a score finishing the 6 stages that's true but i noticed that the inps submitted before doesn't respect the special rules which indicate to play with mame 0.85 or higher, so why don't delete kold's inps ?

Why is that rule even there? If it plays back, does it really matter? Some sort of explanation would be very useful here.

Maybe it was done as result of this thread:

viewtopic.php?t=11681&start=0&postdays= ... ght=vasara

Apparently there was a problem with the play from 73 through 84u4 and the game was temporarily archived. As your note on the thread stated, the special rule should instead say:
mahlemiut wrote:What about MAME 0.63 through to 0.73, and 0.84u5 and u6 (and later -zhorik)?

The game was removed from MAME around then (too recent) and was then re-instated.

In that case the special rule should probably just be removed. Like you said before, if you can record it and play it back in a version, that should be enough.

At Arcadia that is a magazine of arcade games, playing in difficult mode is a requirement for the high score submitting.

However, I do not think that such a rule is necessary in MARP.
