New rule, no MAME u-versions allowed

We are voting on a new rule:

Code: Select all

3a. Use of Wolf- or TGMAME is preferred.
MAME u, -update versions are not allowed if your operating system has more official versions available.
First line is to write something that already is a custom at marp. So I think that could be written in the rules no matter what the poll outcome is.

U- part is the actual stuff we are voting on. To make playback easier. They are already hard to find, I couldn't find 89u5 anywhere
+you shouldn't use u's anyway, but wait for wolfmame release.

Discussion HERE

Thank you,

TJT

I'm confused.

I do not want to adopt this new rule.

I want to continue to allow u's.

Should I click the "yes" or "no" button to vote this way?

Sorry for confusion,

If you don't want new rule, click "yes"

I voted no. I don't even know where to get the MAME 'u' versions anyway. If MARP is going to allow 'u' versions then at least a link to where you can get them should be made available on the home page.

Anyway, I thought the reason why 'u' versions aren't made available for general release was to save internet bandwidth.

PS. ok I've just seen a link in the other thread.

The title of this thread is "New rule, no MAME u-versions allowed."

The poll is "allow u's?" yes or no.

Does anyone else feel this is slightly confusing? I am for allowing u's but in retrospect am not sure if I voted correctly.

If you want to continue to allow u's: vote "yes"

If you want to adopt the new rule to outlaw u's: vote "no"

Rules updated.

I guess it will have to go without saying that WolfMAME u's are allowed.

There have been several releases where the only WolfMAME was an based on an update version. There was none for the major release because there was no MAMEplus until after an update was made.

Thanks Pat/Barry
If you have questions about the rules or the rules page, and don't want to post to the message board, try contacting Regulation Coordinator TJT or John Cunningham
?
I guess John submitted the new html code then...

Yes, I did.

It previously read "Pat Laffaye or John Cunningham" (Don't know who wrote that version, don't think it was me).

I replaced Pat's name with yours.

Problem?
