Watch this, it's quite awesome to watch.

A more impressive performance on a less impressive game may never be achieved.
Does the site give any information as to the player's identity?
He doesn't even sign his initials.

It is a great replay. It looks like the guy could have kept playing forever if he wanted to.

If he play without any slowdowns then he is the master.

Here's the original post (in Japanese). Maybe someone who knows Japanese can translate it. Web translators aren't much help.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Clicking on the link gives an error message.
Try right-clicking on the link and choose Save Target As. Works for me.

Here's a slightly better translation for you of the three posts in the snapshot using my favourite Japanese to English translation service...
Cheers,
Pat.

Mappy no mistake 50Round
MAME 32Plus!0.78
My friend did it for me.
The sophistication of the feel of the cat leading the way, including outside of the screen, the way it avoids 6000x2... It is impeccable in every way. I will make it my family treasure.
Too good to be true.

Does anybody still have a copy of this replay or a link to it that still works? The original link doesn't work anymore.
Thanks,
George

That's funny but I don't know why Mappy gets such a bad rap.
To those of you who have watched the replay and know how to validate whether or not it is legit, is it legit? Or maybe the Japanese romset is somehow easier? It isn't that I'm skeptical, I just know very little of these Japanese sites or even how you guys know of them or how to use them. To me it looks legit and just that this fella has figured out some very elaborate patterns and techniques. It's very impressive.
Thanks for any info. And thanks Weehawk for the attachment.

I think Hisa had said a few times in the past that some of the recordings have been machine-edited--I would imagine they have similar problems at the Japanese site to what MARP has had to deal with in the past. Nevertheless, the players generally seem to know when this has happened, and I haven't seen any such commentary about this MAPPY recording.
I also agree--I'm not sure why Mappy has such a bad rap. I loved the game when I was younger--even Hopping Mappy was good fun. It sure beats all the other mouse games... Cheeky Mouse, Funky Mouse, Funny Mouse, Phlegmy Mouse... most of which will make you want to destroy your KB, computer, and monitor after a couple of plays.
