Legitimate scores

I noticed on the Radarscope score Skito left a comment. (I believe Skito did, I may be wrong) That WolfMame should be used for the score to be more legitimate. Why are other Mame versions even allowed since there is ways to cheat!!! WolfMame is being updated everytime. Why not require this. I'm not sure about the Mac people. Don't know about WolfMame for this OS. But, I've seen too many discussions about this. Let's stop it now. And do something about it.
Thanks

we've made some attempts at forcing more secure submissions by not letting unsecure mame inps beat secure ones (blocking) and it was nice for a while but it provoked hackers to find ways to crack the secure versions and distribute the hacks, so we don't enforce it just encourage it. I think john has some plans on this so we'll see.

Isn't there a better way to code to make things more secure? I'm a hardware guy not a software guy. So I really have no idea. BTW. Thanks for the time and effort in bulding this MAME. The last time I coded for money was back when Cobol and Fortran was the game. So ok, I've given my age out there!!! Couldn't we at least, take in consideration making some rules on the leaderboard about the unsecure versions. It's pretty dishearting when you are being knocked down the list by questionable INP's. And when the uploaders know about the versions but still refuse to use them. That's pretty damn blatant.
Thanks All
