Beware this is a PG-17 game.

Funny Bubble is a puzzloop type game but it's scoring system is messed up. It is stated to be not emulated correctly but i don't know how correct the emulation will get. With the assumption that the scoring will be the same after emulation is fixed, there is a problem with the scoring method. About 90% of the score depends on what you do in the first 5 levels (there are 25 levels total in the game). So even if you get to the 17th (4-2) level (something that is practially impossible with how difficult the game is right now): Having made one mistake in the earlier levels of that 4-2 game, your score will be dramatically lower than someone who can complete the first 3 levels perfectly.

So here's a scoring change request, I've suggested TWO additional point bonus poll options and ONE option to leave the scoring alone, what shall you choose?

Definately not option 1 - for the reasons you state with regard to unfair scoring!

I would think that option 3 is the fairest - as it rewards players according to the level they finish on - driving them towards getting further in the game, without feeling that they need to be perfect on levels 1-3.

I would vote for an option that is like #3 but scaled as #2 is with another slight change also.

If you get through 3-1, then 3.1 million bonus, not 31 million.

It then would roughly follow the #2 option automatically.

...cuz with the extreme bonuses of option #3, the normal score aspect of the game becomes pretty minor then.

To assign a 1 million point bonus for each level they complete seems a bit much...which is what option #3 does. #2 doesn't do enough as there is no difference in bonus of someone completing 3-1 vs 3-4.

However, you also should make it where it's based on the level your game ended on instead of the last level you completed. Why? cuz then for option #3 you still would get the "extra" bonus for getting past a 3-5.

ie. a player gets through 3-4 and game ends on 3-5. By the current #3 wording they would get 34 million bonus.

someone getting past 3-5 and game ending on 4-1 would get 35 million...but someone getting to 4-2 gets 41 million..so the extra 6 million bonus is assigned for completing 4-1...where it really should be for completing 3-5.

That doesn't seem right to me....so if you made it based on level the game ended on instead then that extra world completion bonus is properly assigned.

rick's option is added, i thought 55M was a bit much too, but it doesn't take away all the other scoring since the bonuses max out on completion, thus you could still better your score if you can complete the thing.

I think i still like the 55M bonus option (1) it's easier to score, (2) I also thought about that extra bonus at the begining of the main stages instead of the end and believe me, getting passed 4-1 is a LOT harder than getting passed 3-5. as is 5-1 verses 4-5. However, completeing the whole thing i.e. completeing 5-5 only gives you 1M over completeing 5-4. 5-5 is hard but it's not much harder than 5-4. If the extra scoring methods have it over the non scoring options, we might treat this poll as a primary and repoll to figure out which scoring method is best.

ahh, ok...so the other small point I was making is moot then.

...either really works then I guess. I think though in terms of leaderboard points using the 100k per level instead of 1 million is better though.

Like you said all that complete will get the bonus so then whoever scores higher within the game scoring will have the highest score...but the scores will be really really close given the bonus added is tons more than the actual game score.

Think of it this way... 2 scores that are 5.5 million vs 5.8 million...where that 300k difference is all from skill of scoring more in the game...and about 5-6% of the overall score.

With the larger bonuses that would be 55 million vs 55.3 million...not even a 1% difference in overall "score".

I guess there are many games at MARP similar to this...where the difference in score and leaderboard points often isn't justified cuz how the scoring is for the game.

either way it beats what this game has for it's own scoring. :P

Maybe 1000000 x N, where N is number of stages (N between 1 & 25) ;
but I'm not very fan of new scoring there, because it's good to see also combos, and the player who can survive the longer is already rewarded in this game by the "level mode" section

unfortunatley combos mean absolutely nothing in scoring here compared to puzzloop. And the level bonuses at the end of 2-5 3-5 4-5 5-5 are chicken feed, there may be a few levels you can get 100k in but after several tries these levels just don't put out the bonuses that puzzloop rightly does for excellent combos and fast play (with the exception of 1-5).

I added phil's option and I should have put that method in from the begining, i hesitated because i thought it would be hard to compute the bonus at the end but it's relativley simple: if you complete level X-Y you add (X-1)+Y Million. You are free to change your vote, if you think there is a better way to do this besides the options given. I can only hope the emulation fixes will make the scoring better, but i don't think it will. I just don't want to be the top funny bubble scorer (and not want to score anymore since it's pointless with the current scoring) with an incomplete 2-5 recording...

with the changes to poll options is the poll reset so voting is fresh?

unfortunatley no, but you can say what you voted and then change to what you want to vote it in a post to this thread. If this poll gets 66% against original scoring, i'll do another poll with the best options so far that will pick the new scoring method.

You probably mean : 5x(X-1) + Y millions
