Hello marpers!

Recently I was fooling around with the dips and discovered that some games become quite different if you change the difficulty. I knew Wonderboy Deluxe has new levels when it is set to hard, but I just found the same happens with Terra Cresta. Very cool!!!

So I wanted to share my discovery, and also ask if you know which games (other than those two) have this behaviour. What most games do is just throw more enemies at you or make them more dangerous, but I'm not talking about that kind of difference. Instead, it has something to do with the layout of the levels... try the games I mentioned and you'll see what I mean.

This is great for those who have mastered the game and are bored of playing the same thing over and over again!

yeah, maybe about 90% of games have different difficulties either accesed by the dipswitches (from the tab menu) or the F2-key menus inside the rom emulation itself. It is pretty fun to try switching around difficulties to get a completely new game almost.

ahh glad to have the forum back :) thanks seymore, acces time seems pretty fast actually.

Hello MJS

Where have you seen that ? All Wonder Boy versions I know have 32 levels (world 8-4). For go in the last world you must have all dolls in the game. Maybe you've take them without be aware of this fact :)

No Francois, I'm not that good at Wonder Boy! :D

What I said is that Wonder Boy Deluxe (one of the clones) have different levels when you set the difficulty to 'hard'.

It changes from the beginning of the game, try it!!!

There is a game that has been promoted from GAME_NOT_WORKING status:
Borderline (bootleg) [David Haywood]
no sound
src/drivers/vicdual.c
It is not in marp ,
because player 1
has unlimited ships.
If you turn all dipswitches
to unknown/unused = off , it is fixed. (3 ships)
skito?

yeah if there's a difficulty level settting to make the game have # of lives then it needs to be unstared or readded and special rules added, Pat?
