Looks completely out of sync to me from the beginning. Tried with and without sound, with and without -noafs, unable to get it to play back.

Used Win XP, m68k-c-core, no sound, and autoframeskip on. I can't even playback your inp, Evil Angela. Are you using Win 98?? I guess that I'll have to find the last working version on this game, due with the Atari Vector bugs with or without sound.

Tested on my other old CPU with Win 98. It's seems like Evil Angela's recording does work on Win 98 not XP and my recording doesn't work on Win98 just only XP. Oh well! Different recording on different OS. I zeroed my scores, cause my inp looks harder than Evil Angela's inp. Oh well! Maybe next time....

Just to clear it up, no, I am not using Win 98, but Win2K.

I was concerned about the playbackability of my Space Duel input after finding yours wouldn't play for me. I'm feeling a little better that it does.

I did want to see yours, however. :(

I could even try play on the older PC with M35tg3 or Mame36 Final. Your pick, Evil Angela!

what is the advantage of using the m68k c core for playing?

The latest macmame+ has that option also...but I haven't used it yet.

Would it perhaps make a few more replay files cross-platform compatible playing with the m68k c core versus without it?

I'll have to try that sometime I guess. I figure performance suffers though....but that will likely vary versus emulated game CPU.

The C core is slower than the ASM one, but is more accurate. If the C core in MacMAME Plus is the same as the one in MAME (Musashi), then inps will be more likely to be 'compatible' with MAME/MAME Plus. On more recent systems (> 800MHz), the speed difference between cores is quite negligible. Best to just stick with the C core, although MAME Plus, since 0.77, has made the ASM core the default. Quite why, I don't know. MAME has the C core as default - and you must recompile to switch between them. These options only affect games that use 68000 or 68010 CPUs, not 68020 or later CPUs.

Woohoo! I finally had a game where things just clicked, and managed to just about double my previous high! Discovered the next two shapes after the floating monoliths - 8 pointed stars, and then radiation hexagons. Wild! I wonder how many more shapes are out there - if there are any more. The hexagons are the last listed at the only FAQ I could find on the game - http://db.gamefaqs.com/coinop/arcade/fi ... e_duel.txt

I do agree with another person - this game should probably be split into single and combined modes. The high score board in the game tracks them that way, and twin galaxies also records separate scores.

I wonder how high we can push the score for this game... sadly, twin galaxies seems to have no scores recorded. :(

Congrat Evil Angela for reaching the Radiation Hex. The Radiation Hex is the last one and it will repeat back to the loop if I could remember. My old record is 428k in combined mode and it was done in the arcade, long time ago. AFAIK, I have been on Radiation Hex, twice. So anyway, I'm no where near that score, yet.

The world record is somewhere between 800-900k and it probably was held in S.F. or I may be wrong. I think the TG setting was set on Med, 4 ships, bonus every 10k or wasn't 12k?
