Scoring Idea for Games with Max Scores

I had an idea come to me regarding some of the games here that have maximum scores. Perhaps something like it's been discussed in the past and discounted, but I didn't see any evidence here on the board, at least, and thought I might mention it.
There are a number of games that have maximum scores, due to them not rolling over but just staying at the maximum. So we end up with multiple people tied for the maximum score. (N.Y. Captor, for example, has 4 people with 9,999,990)
What about adding some sort of a little scoring addition depending on where they achieved that maximum score? Using N.Y. Captor again, the entries each have a different level where that score was reached. Perhaps add some sort of point bonus for the level scored at, say, by subtracting it from 100 in this case? That would reward players reaching the maximum earlier - who likely played better. It would at least reduce the number of ties, also.
Or is this needless complication?
Ideas, opinions, insults?
