0.75 was broken in too many ways (YM sound, Seta sound, Itech32 games etc. etc.), a little annoying since I considered it a 'fix' release (the fixes included actually caused problems with many games) 0.76 should actually fix the new problems 0.75 introduced.

When I installed this, it shows it as Mame32 .76
Have you removed the trademark "Wolf" ?

No, I just don't change it. It's doesn't say MAME32 Plus either, which is the MAME "off-shoot" that it's based on.

Some guy emailed me:
Will my record be blocked if i upload with a regular version of
Mame?
I'm not sure. If you're taking 1st place from somebody who has used
AlphaMAME (or WolfMAME as it's called now) then it's only polite to
use WolfMAME too.
As for whether your recording will be blocked if you don't use
WolfMAME I don't know, but why not use it anyway?

Chris.
that link doesn't work..is this wolf supporting a dos port as well? i
can't use windows stuff..cuz i have a slow computer.
but thanks for your answer.
What should I tell this guy? Is there a DOS WolfMAME?
Chris.

No, there is no blocking anymore but you should use a secure MAME version anyway.
Is there a DOS WolfMAME?
Since there is no DOS MAME Plus! there is no DOS WolfMAME.

Is there any speed difference between the DOS version and the command-line Windows version?
If not, he should use the command-line Windows version, but if so, what do we suggest?

I don't think so. I don't even think there's a speed difference between MAME32 and the official version since it's basically only a GUI on top of the official version.
There is no speed difference between WolfMAME and the official version (on my system). AlphaMAME is slower than the official version because of the encryption.
If not, he should use the command-line Windows version, but if so, what do we suggest?
Ask him what his system specs are. We might be able to suggest some settings he can try to speed it up.

As a dos user, I can answer ...
I have 2 PC at house ; one is my wife's (1.2Ghz & XP) and there is no problem for me running wolfmame on it ... except she's working a lot on it and she isn't especially happy to watch me playing on it ; the 2nd is my 3-4 years old Pentium 600Mhz (with Win98), but I can't run wolfmame on it : extremely slow and CRASHING ALL THE TIME (I don't know why) ...
That's why for the moment I play almost 100% with dos70tg (I don't have yet any rom since this version), and if I have only this PC I certainly couldn't play with wolfmame ;
one more thing : with experience, I would say that dos is a little faster than mame32 versions, and more than all there are less playback problems
So my suggestion is that Barry could do an alphamame dos version (because wolfmame/mameplus have no dos) let say every 5 releases (m75-m80 etc)
But as I don't exactly know what volume of work is needed to do that ... he has done such a lot and good work already

Barry, is there going to be a Wolfmame Plus 76u1 Update.. or are you keeping it now to just full version releases? Just curious

[Especially since, other then clrmame freaking out about the MamePlus only roms, this is a DAMN fine version and I fully endorse the idea of it being mandatory for all uploads [save for select games that REQUIRE older versions... mind you... is Tron only playable on those ancient vers?]

P.S. please lose the Ghetto Bus from your name. thanks

I doubt they'll playback anyway. Quite a few of those Atari games only playback correctly on older versions of mame.

Looking at it again, maybe just two or three.
