If anyone can hel with these simple questions it would be very errr helpful :)

I'm trying to set up a new server at work. Currently we use Novell but I want to start using WS2003. I downloaded the trial version (180day free trial heh) and installed it using the default options on a brand new machine.

Basically all the server is used for these days is a file server. Internet access and printing are handled elsewhere.

I've created a couple of users (not grouped) and set their permissions and used the wizard to configure WS2003 as a fileserver.

I know very little abut networks so why I've ended up with this job is betond me but what I need to do is allow the 2 users I've created to log into the server (mapping a drive with the shared files) and go from there.

The problem I have is that a) i know nothing and b) how do I sort out a login on a user's PC? I can't find any way to get a client into the networking properties (of the user's pc) that will let me log onto the server and run the log in scripts.

I am hopeless at this but I'm sure, with a few pointers, I'll get there. After all i've got 6months ;)

Help please if you can :)

You will need to dcpromo the machine to setup active directory. Then that server will be used as a domain controller and that's where your users pc's will look for login information.

Bit long winded to explain here but not really difficult to do. Look here for more info http://www.serverwatch.com/tutorials/ar ... hp/1474461
