WCC3 starts now !!! Week 1 : BLOCKOUT

Hi all ....
As announced, wcc3 starts today : will Destructor be the first to win 3 types of tourneys in the same year ??? (he already won t6 & k3) ????

Rules are same as usual, except a slight change :
the top 6 players will score 10-7-5-3-2-1 instead of previous 10-6-4-3-2-1 ;
version to use : any alphamame70 or wolf72 (I'll maybe need help to confirm inps) ;
you've to upload on regular with "wcc" mentioned in desc box (I've asked zwaxy to make w3-rd1, w3-rd2 .... entries, but I have no news)

And remember an important thing : no need to play each week if you don't like 1 game (but to win the tourney, it's better to be in the top6 each week of course)

To start, I've chosen a classic : blockout ;
I hope you will enjoy it, and as usual I will try to put very different type of games

All details there :

cool! phil, becareful about choosing games that don't have the 63 bug. (or just enforce alphamame62 if they do have it.)

I will try to be careful ; if not, we will play with 62tg

Fuck. I send my computer to repair. :(

I hope for you it will be repaired soon

But for the moment, upload is broken on Marp :
to all players : keep your best scores and upload it when uploading won't be broken anymore (I won't DQ any inp with the 24 hours rules)

If uploading is broken a long time, I could make round1 a little longer

And to help you, some infos given on the chat by Abbe (who seems to know the game very well) :
ABOUT BONUS :
<Abbe> You get 9000 for a 3 face blockout
<Abbe> 2000 for a 2 face blockout, 500 for a 1 face
<Abbe> There's no stage you can make a 5 face blockout
<Abbe> You can get a 4 face in stage 5 if you're really lucky
<Abbe> You get 20k if I remember correctly.

MISC :
You get 1000x(level nb) each time you finish a level
(just avalaible in blockout, not for the clone blckoutj)

The width and height of the levels comes in a 10-stage cycle

Just gave it a try and 20k is correct. In theory it is possible to make a 4 face block out in every stage with both sides at least 4 cubes long and 7 cubes deep. In practice I think it's only possible in level 5. Feel free to prove me wrong. :-)

Here's some scoring info:

Clearing 1 face: 50
Clearing 2 faces: 200
Clearing 3 faces: 900
Clearing 4 faces: 2,000

1 face block out: 500
2 faces block out: 2,000
3 faces block out: 9,000
4 faces block out: 20,000

When dropping a piece with n cubes you get n x (how far it falls in cubes) points.

This clone gives you 1,000 * (nb of stage) points when finishing the stage. The other clones gives you a bonus that depends on how much of the well that is filled at the end of the stage.

And remember that another good thing about doing a block out is that the speed returns to level 1.

Just becase I spent a few boring hours working out the scoring doesn't mean I know how to play the game. I'll never reach those 700k scores.

There are some great puzzlers at marp and I don't have much time to play this week. A game or maybe two a day won't be enough to win this round.

But I won't cry if I'm wrong. :wink:

Well 0.72 refuses to run properly for me on 80% of the games :(, including blockout

Don't suppose I can submit using 0.71?

Probably not, as rules are rules.. I'm crap at the first game anyhow heheh

Disable sound and change frameskip. I play now on procesor Pentium I 200MHz, 128 MB RAM, with no sound and frameskip 6. My speed is 99%.

Just managed to play back your blockout score, destructor. It's great that you say that it was recorded without sound and with fs 6. Please make a note that the ASM 68k core is used too, since it doesn't playback with the standard C core.

Keep up the good work. :)

Nah, it's not that, it just refuses to run. I get the rom loading windows window then nothing. If i run it on .71 wolfmame, i get the same thing, then the black screen, then the disclaimer, then the game. And cos of the dll probs from 71 to 71u2 i set up a separate directory :(

Dos does something without getting out of the dos window. :)

If wolfmame 0.72 won't work for you, maybe alphamame70 will, dsksys.

Ah sory. I don't use M68 Core.
But if it's default I will use this.
My score 166646 is last without M68 Core. :wink:
