Policetr new scoring ?

I want to propose a slight different scoring for policetr, as I've noticed that several succesful stages are rewarded by ... 0 !

Score would be :
1000 for EACH succesful stage + eventual points over qualifying bar for stages with scoring

Advantages :
*people succeding in 1 stage without scoring are rewarded by 1000pts : more fair
*it's easier to count while playing (I've played a little this afternoon and it is less boring like that : you just to remind nb of stages passed + a few little total of points)

Before I vote, I wanna know exactly what is the bad thing about the actual scoring? Besides that you don´t get points on some stages. I mean there are other games that does not give you points on every stage:)

If that´s the only 'bad' think about the present scoring I think we can just keep it as it is.

Thanks.

i vote no. i know these are a pain to confirm but there's nothing wrong with the scoring method as is.

police trainer is divided into six levels with six stages each.

we're all maxing out at third level, so so far no-one has managed to make it to a 2nd zero stage.

level four is attainable but getting there will be damn hard, and i think five is pretty much out of reach. some stages like 'the wheel' are killers on first try, and the moving ball game is impossible unless you are *perfect*.

Police Trainer is *much* harder than the average shooter by level 2. and the one zero stage we are reaching is pretty much the easiest stage. points difference on a single stage is comparable between players (usually a range of 0-500 points, depending on target accuracy) and the computer gives the same opportunity for scoring on each stage on every game, although the patterns change.

Example :
player A pass 6 first stages with total=8500 then choose "defense" (event without scoring) and lose ; score=8500

player B pass 6 first stages with total=8000 then choose "defense" (event without scoring), pass it and lose 1 event after ; score = 8000 but he has passed 7 stages, player A only passed 6 stages and has a better score

I think it is unfair ;
without changing all scoring, maybe just rewarding no-score-stages by 1000 would be better .....

1. Anybody who fails out in level 2, which has the zero stage, is automatically out of contention for the top 3 on this game. Like most shooting games, you have three lives. If you can't get through level 2, you're not going to score many points on this game anyway, so the point of an 'unfair failing out' isn't really relevant. If you can't pass this particular stage then, I'm sorry, you suck too badly to be competing on this game. It would be like me complaining that the first boss on DoDonPachi was "too hard", althought that's not a great parallel.

2. You have stage selection within a level--which means it is your choice whether to play the zero stage or not--you can leave it as the last stage in a level. Common sense says to play it earlier, because its an easy stage. Of all the policetr.inp s that i've watched so far, no-one has failed it yet. Personally, I either use it as a warm-up for the quick motion stages (because you even have time to miss in this stage and recuperate easily) or as a cool down ifmy nerves are jittery.

3. It's a very easy stage to confirm the score on. :)
