63 bug suggestion

I am not in favor of zeroing all the inps that exhibit the mysterious 63 bug. However a rule I think would be fair to everyone is once a game exhibits this bug, all future inps must be recorded in version 62 or earlier.

It seems very unfair for someone to spend a great deal of time playing a game, then having their inp zeroed because it does not work on someone else's machine. I think marp should cut players some slack if they are in the group of the 1st few players to unknowingly make an inp that has this bug. However once a game is known to have this bug, I think it is reasonable to ask players to make future recordings in 62 or earlier. Also, someone should make a 'special rule' link beside the name of the game saying that recordings now require version 62 or earlier. I have seen this in a few games. I am not sure if all the 63 bug games have this link next to their names.

...depends....

if they did it since 0.63 that obviously was only within the past 6 months so it's not like you would be removing very old and tested records....they likely can repeat it if necessary.

Also, I am not in favor of removing any as well...unless no one else can get them to playback.

If a few can get it to playback correctly then it doesn't really matter if tons of others can't IMHO. It's a shame in certain cases I guess but the score is confirmed etc. so should stand even if most can't view it.

I think this applies to very few games out of the 3500+ rom sets 0.63and newer play.

Tons of scores with 0.63 and higher are just fine for everyone.

As far as the special rule thing...yes, I have already seen this in a couple of cases so they are ahead of you here. In the special rules it states to use 0.62 or earlier....so any using 0.63 and later are uploaded after that they should be zeroed out/removed.
