VOTE: leeching situation in Mikie
Posted: Mon Jul 07, 2003 9:42 pm
for those who did not follow the original Mikie leeching thread it can be read here: viewtopic.php?t=10489
To summarize, the problem is this: unlimited lives can be leeched in the hallway section of Mikie. With a bit of practice, a player can build up more lives than they lose performing the leeching. This vote is to decide how to regulate leeching in this game, as there is no suitable internal game mechanism to prevent the leeching.
The main .inp in question to view is Karol's score on mikiehs. Her si the link to the .inp:

The 'bucket' options for the poll, BBH's suggestion, are how many red buckets are allowed to slide across the hallway floor before the player must progress. The timing between buckets becomes shorter, but by standing on the first doormat you can block the buckets, eliminating this killing variable. It takes a period of time of about 16 buckets to earn a bonus life, at which point your enemies are still not moving at maximum speed. The hallway section can be cleared before ANY buckets are thrown, if you choose to simply progress to the next room.
The total number of buckets listed in this vote is how many buckets can be thrown before you MUST progress. ie: if you choose 2, if a third bucket is thrown your score is DQed or youmust immediately kill your current life.
Please be aware that there is a hall section after each of the first four classrooms, meaning your vote will have a multiple of up to four per level as far as elapsed time is concerned.
If this vote is unsuitable or unfair for any reason, please let me know. I've tried to detail all of the information I could here.
