Neo Geo BIOSes

Which Neo Geo BIOS should be the one we use? In 0.69, there is now a -bios switch, that allows you to choose from a range of BIOS types. Should we stick with the default (which is the same one as used in previous versions) Europe 1-slot BIOS? Or should we use whichever one we feel like using? Of course, the problem with that is that in some games, different regions have different difficulty levels (remember Neo Drift Out?). And also, it would also have to be played back with that same BIOS too. I'm sure all the japanese players would prefer to use one of the japanese BIOSes too. This is the only way to play Neo Geo games in japanese now (except for japanese only games, like the mahjong ones).

Any comments welcome.

I guess you should use the default, although its a shame because some games are clearly better played in japanese (magical drop 3 for example)

maybe if a game has enough differences with the japan bios you can split it.

also i'm not sure what you're going to do about the neogeo mahjong games now the control panel method of play is supported.

Why would it matter? There's no effect on gameplay (ie: doesn't make them any easier).

well as i've said before in places, i don't know how to play them .. if there is some kind of time limit pressing a is easier than pressling left 20 times but there probably isn't.

what are the -bios options? there's no listing of what possible values for the option in the readme file. I tried -bios japan and -bios asia and they weren't accepted.

-bios 5 is for Japan Ver. 6.00, 6 is a japanese version too, 4 is Asia

the list (for neogeo) is in the whatsnew, nothing else is using this year, although st-v may use a similar thing once its emulated in mame, of course that could be years from now and the options could have changed by then :-)
