No, it should be one credit, and one credit only, like with any other game.

Mahjong Club 90's

Post by mahlemiut »

More specifically, should it be allowed that in Mahjong Club 90's [club90s, club90sa] that any credit won in Show Time be used to continue with?

http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/d/a/5/in ... mame67.zip for an example of using the extra credit. Not sure if the game forces you to continue or not.

I think yes, because it's the same bonus in mahjongs as extra life example in other games.

From my point of view the real question is how we should understand Rule 2 a) :
2. If MAME's goal, as Nicola Salmoria has stated, is to emulate the arcade game as closely as possible, then MARP's goal is to emulate the experience of "watching a virtual master play an arcade game", true to the arcade experience, as closely as possible. This has led to the following rulings:

a) Only one credit per game shall be permitted.
If I am strict I would say that the extra credit should not be allowed.
On the other side, with the real arcade machine I would had only introduced one credit so if MARP's goal is to
emulate the experience of "watching a virtual master play an arcade game",
I could say that in the real machine I only would have spent one credit. Besides I think I didn´t have to push any key to continue and that there is no option to finish the game. It is not the same as in other machines where you have the option to NOT continue.

If the extra credit is allowed I think another question will be opened:

What about scoring :?:

If you select a girl to help you, when you loose that girl is no longer beaten. Should we substract 100K from the puntuation :?:

Besides, as I can remember you only need an extra mahjong to win her again. So It would be easy to get the 100K again.

I doubted a lot before sending the record. I first claimed only the points made with the first credit and mailed Phil Lamat asking for help. At the time of his replay he seemed to think that the extra credit sould be allowed so I edited the claim with the puntuation he suggested.

I regret of not having asked before winning the extra credit, as this question arised while I was talking with my friend AxMan two weeks ago.

This dilemma has been brought up before. I can only remember frogs right now, but I know there are other games where you can earn extra credits. I think it was decided that all of these games should follow the one credit only-rule strictly. The earned credits could not be used to increase your score.

I can't really see why it would be different this time.

I`m quite new in MARP and I didn´t know this was already discussed. Another game that gives extra credit is Championship Sprint when you make a new lap record, but I don´t think anybody is able tod make it with only one credit :!: Not even Mancho :)

Well, if was decided to follow the one credit only-rule strictly there is nothing more to say.

So now you should edit your club90s score to 732200 with new desc :

b:122400 + c:106100 + g:4100+33500 + d:157500 + a:16500+120700 + g:112600 + e:51300+7500 (continue with girl G's bonus credit =109500+1500 not counted as decided by poll)

Your club90sa is ok except in desc :
the very first girl you won was D (not C)

I've tried to mail you these infos, but it came back to me :
is the address you've mailed me from <infacc000@universia.es>
no more avalaible ?

I have edited the score and both descriptions.

The address is suposed to be still working, I don´t know what could have happened :? . Perhaps they are having problems with incoming mails. It´s not a problem of free space at I have entered and I have 4Mb free (I supose you haven´t sent such a big mail :D ).

I have sent a mail to another address and from that second address to the first. I will see what happens...

I think I will have to cut someone head

I've tried again with this text :

"Just to know if you receive that ;
if yes, you should add your mail in your profiles, both on the board and
(more important) to regular Marp :
in the upper banner type "index" and then "edit user"

, and mail came back with that :
