Any chance of the extra games added in 0.69a being added to the database, even though there isn't an official binary release (source only update)?

[EDIT: and 0.69b too, now that that's out :)]

As much as I'd like to help you out, I'm afraid if I did so, I'd just be giving myself additional work. You see I have no way of knowing if the games that you add to amame will officially be released in the upcoming version of mame. Your intermediate releases that have additional games, I would view as beta releases. MameDev may still be working on drivers and testing may not yet be complete. An additional problem for me is trying to determine changes relative to prior versions. If we throw amame into the mix it gets too cumbersome with version mangement. I prefer to stay in synch with the official Mame releases.

Sorry, you just gotta be patient!! Look at it this way, you all can practice while waiting for the next official version to show up! OK? :)

These are public source diffs remember - anyone can patch the source with them, and AlphaMAME isn't the only MAME to add them (eg: MAME Plus).

But that doesn't mean they'll for sure be in the official release next time...

since i'm putting together the diffs and i'm putting together the releases they should be unless something is found seriously wrong with them. although i agree if you start adding things from the diff updates it could get confusing when it comes to .70 because the whatsnew will probably list everything from the diff updates + any last minute additions (because the changelist will be against .69) so you'll end up having to recheck what you already added before :p

I like the small source diffs, far quicker to download than the whole MAME source, which is really beginning to be a hassle to download (especially XMAME, which is nearly 10MB). I'll probably still end up getting the whole source again when 0.70 comes out, however. We'll see. Applying 20 diffs in order, one after the other isn't a barrel load of fun either.

First person to suggests "Get broadband, you cheapskate" gets a swift whack around the back of the head. :)
