Can the dip switch settinf of Difficulty be modified?

Is it legal? or the recording must to be in the default settings to be considerate valid? (if the special rules don´t say another thing...)

For MARP, DIP swtich settings must be either the TG settings, MAME defaults, or harder than MAME defaults.
