I've just watched and confirmed Hisa Chan's latest Gaiapols recording - http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/1/9/1/7n ... mame67.zip

Hisa Chan shows us another great inp with a powerup trick on the Maharishi level. The trick occurs near 3 baskets of berries on the left hand side of the screen at the start of the level. You can optionally scroll the game sideways or up at this point. By continually hitting the basket of berries on the left side of the screen Hisa Chan was able to rack up much XP and leveled up 10 levels.

I expect that this technique is likely to raise some eyebrows here on MARP and I'd like to give my opinion on the technique in regard to it being a legitimate gameplay technique.

Performing this trick allows you to gain levels but exposes you to hazards - since it takes time to level up and the game runs on a timer, when the time runs out a dragon appears periodically and blasts the player with firebreath.

Hisa was able to mitigate the damage by skillfully timing the exit and entrance to side rooms and changing direction/pace of his game character to avoid the fire.

You can't perform the trick indefinitely. Performing the trick forces you to either rush the level (if you only do a trick a short while) or face dragon breath damage (if you perform the trick long enough).

Provided the player finishes the level then I don't have a problem with the use of the technique. If however I recommend banning inp's where a player camps and racks up the score/level and then dies before the end of the level.

Hisa then goes another couple of levels. Due to emulation problems in level 10 where the clouds are solid (non see through) rather than translucent, he was unable to handle the handicap.

Great work Hisa, do you think you can finish the game despite the opaque clouds in level 10?

BTW - I think that Hisa actually scores 6125 (not the advertised 6123), can someone confirm this.

Hello tmorrow

How did you make for seen the game ? I try to read it but they're no credit. I use Alpha 67 with and without sound.

Beside, I've no problem for this kind of tricks, but I agree with you for finish the level after make the trick.

This game is great, I've seen it once before because a friend have the jamma card and since, I'd wait impatiently the release in mame :)

First.
Tim, your personal shot is the real ending of sexy parodius.
(finish all levels include special stage with qualify all norms.)
why not upload your play??
I know 5+million is easy for you.

Maharishi(stage 5)'s trick is exactly same as robocop one.
I do not think that trick has problem.
but I certain the champion of this game is "FINISH THE GAME WITH LOWEST SCORE".
so if many people finish this game, the rule of "cadash" should be apply.
#score = exp if died.
#score = (2.5 x maximum counter) - exp if finished.

This game has 8 digits. so 250,000,000 -exp is reasonable.

anysome, aleista(stage 10)'s blind clowd is serious trouble.
If you see it on actual board, stage 10 is very beautiful stage.
(stage 15 is much more beautiful) so I want blind clowd bug should be fixed.
but I think I can manage it.

yeah i thought i saw 6125 too, i'll edit it since i wasn't sure either now i am with someone else confirming. But someone confirmed it at 6123, which i think is incorrect. And this is clean point maximization no trick at all here in my opinion, there is some real risk with the red dragon breathing down your neck.

The final score was 6125. I think the trick is fine. There is some danger involved to the technique. Once time runs out, a huge red dragon appears and tryies to kill the player. Nice play Hisa.

Hisa also uploaded a very nice outrunners demo which is quite impressive. If anyone is a fan of racing games, download it. You will not be disappointed. Hisa what is the fastest time for outrunners that you have heard of?

my personal best is 3'19".
Follows are the gamest record single-player's play.
2 or more players play makes faster.
and all of them uses button-gear change to do off road trick easier.

North Europe 3'16"07
switzerland 3'14"20
atlantic ocean 3'16"35
Spain 3'14"44
Kenia 3'18"59
Russia 3'15"90
china 3'14"92
Japan 3'15"84
hong kong 3'18"45
Australia 3'16"24.

This game has different endings each goal/each car.
10 goals and 8 car has 80 endings.
my best favorite is Switzerland (kiss) / Quick Reactor (2 fat men) 's ending.
Good luck Vaz and mamend.

I have watched the new recording (6676), and I think the trick is ok too. Huge risk of beeing killed by that dragons breath, and you can´t really do it forever. Hisa also finish the level.

I agree with Tim about banning recordings that does not finish the level after racking up points/levels though.

Great skill and gameplay Hisa!

It seems to be a very cool game too! My pc can´t handle the game so good though :( It seems that I need more ram here...

There's no fooling you Hisa, yes my screenie is indeed from the true end to sexyparo. Unfortunately my current machine (A PII 450) is too slow to record a lot of the games at the necessary speed unless I resort to high frameskipping (which I don't like to do). Obtaining 5+Million is NOT EASY for me I can assure you.

It may be some time before the MAMEDEV solve the transparency problems. Sexyparo has the same problem in level 3.

Cheers,
Tim
