about many rules

Post by Novice »

Defcon=2

So many eccentric new rules are created for these 3 months.
but I have to say something.

DOES THE RULE WORKS WELL???
current gokujou parodius top players plays on normal mame.
but no one block them and confirmer admit them.
Is this case the exception?? or rules apply block for .jp and LRX2??
if so, then you should write it.

New rule zeroed out for Tech-d.jp's naughty boy.
but many replays are remained without confirmed yet.
if zeroed the replay by new rule, then must check ALL replays of course.
It is the least duty of confirmer I think.

current rule, only 7-8 mens opinion makes new rule at unpopular tittle.
so changing the rule should be require at least 30-40 voters.

unfortunatley both of these new rules created require effort that is NOT compensated for so things can't be instantaneously, the blocking can happen automatically but isn't implimented yet, i'll check out the parodius stuff and block them when i have time. I am not qualified to check all the naughtyb scores, so i proly won't be the one to check them. THe status of that is only a few scores have been changed by that rule and others are yet to do.

There is currently no large minimum number of voters, but you can certainly start a poll about that, the thing is you have to think carefully about rules and their consequences of the future not just who gets insulted in the present. If you set a minimum of too high then nothing will ever get changed when it needs it...

A score played with regular mame even now isn't blocked at all until someone else has submitted a score for that game using alphamame. Then any regular mame scores submitted after 3/3/03 would be reduced in score to be just below the alphamame score. That's how it works. There is nothing personal about that system. It's not targeted at .jp or LRX2. All are treated the same. However, I think it's still also done "manually" by the editors so perhaps they miss one here and there. You have to give them a break. If you see a score that should be blocked but isn't, post about it in this forum with the URL for the page of the game so the editors can quickly see that themselves and block the score.

I agree. When new rules are passed all inps for that game need to be checked. However, it turned out as you likely saw this wasn't a new rule at all. It had previously had a poll and the technique was already banned. It's just the special rules link reflecting that wasn't setup.

I mainly am still confirming macmame inps since I have a mac. I came across Tech-D's inps and was watching them only to confirm the score. If you note in his description he even mentions the technique is banned elsewhere. I'm not sure if he was just submitting the inp as an example of the play or what.

I had planned on also watching the other at least top 2 scores for naughty boy to make sure they aren't doing that leeching technique. However, I have to run Virtual PC on my mac etc. to view those so it's a bit of a pain. Again I give preference as a confirmer to macmame scores since I am the only macmame confirmer here. It's a shame cuz I really would want another macmame confirmer that can confirm my scores.

Will you please stop with this BS you keep bringing up that would pretty much result in NOTHING ever getting passed? We see right through you Novice. You tried this previously.

Even the alphamame block poll only got 30 votes. It's the only poll since I joined MARP 8 months ago that has reached 30 votes. I agree perhaps some minimum should be added cuz you don't want some poll that gets only like 4-5 votes and ends up setting a new rule with only those 4-5 votes. Perhaps a 7 or 8 vote or evne 10 vote minimum should be thought about. 10 vote requirement would be reasonable.

However, given even the more participated polls are typically in the 15-20 vote range, it's ridiculous to ask for a requirement of at least 30-40 votes. It's rare a poll gets that many votes and you know it.

I think there are barely 30-40 members that regularly read and participate in the forums. Most MARP members rarely check the forums.

As you can see most here want to play the games honestly and have a fair competition. That's what the special rules are all about...keeping the games at a fair competition level.
