Anyone know why Dax's 1152 recording of Ribbit! keeps going back to level 1, but Mr. Kelly R. Flewin's 432 recording doesn't?

It is a bug.
From mametesters page :
segac2.c ribbit: The game resets somewhat randomly back to stage 1 after you clear a stage. In one test, it was after stage 19, in another, after stage 6.

Well when I play it doesnt reset at all?! Well not yet anyway.
Perhaps it should be archived for the time being or perhaps only allow recordings that play through correctly. It's not really fair if somebody gets a higher score than someone else by constantly repeating stage one, even though it's not delibrate.

I'd vote for the score being set to the score where the game resets to level 1, if the bug occurs during gameplay.
Thereby Guinness', Isao's and Mr. Kelly R. Flewin's recordings will still be valid - which they should be as they play fine!
Here's hoping the bug will be solved in 0.66.

By the way, 3 recordings out of 4 are fine and don't have this weird (protection?) bug. I also did not encounter this bug when playing. So does that imply that the bug is rare, or only happens to some people (maybe due to OS or joystick or sound card, ?).
It seems that most of the time the game seems fine - which further supports my argument that the game should NOT be archived. Only recordings which have problems should have their score edited.
Do others agree?

I completely agree.. edit it to the last score before reset to level 1, since this isn't a rollover thing.
If I had recorded a game and it reset at some point, I am more then willing to end my game and leave it at that. Otherwise, I could luck out with multiple resets and keep scoring an easy 50 points on the first few levels all over again... and that wouldn't be fair to someone who had to get their score the hard way.

I did not see this thread before I uploaded my 1144 score on Ribbit.
I guess my score will have to be set to 100 points something, cause It went back to stage 1 once after the first 3 stages.. after that I did play a good game until stage 20 though
I hope they will fix the bug, cause it is a really cool game!
The frogger-turtle stages at stage 20 was hard as hell though..

Just spotted this thread.
I agree completely. I checked a few of the new uploads today and noticed that they didn't exhibit this bizzare behavior so I zeroed my score. Ive played the game a little since then and haven't encountered it yet. I will replace this score with a legitimate score(if not as high

)
On the upside this is cool game. I especially like the mouse levels.
